Alter (0-0) vs. Fairmont (0-0)

What are your thoughts on The Backyard Brawl? Alter will break in an athletic new QB along with several other younger players. Is this the year Fairmont gives Alter a loss?

I think having Fairmont in the win column is a little to far out on the limb. A better game maybe but I hear your limb cracking.

I'm glad it's time to leave it out there on the field.

With all of the youth for Alter and breaking in a new QB, this game is more up in the air than normal. Still, I would expect discipline and overall athleticism of Alter to take them to a win. The wild card in this game could easily be the home run threat Malik brings at QB. I expect this game to be within 7-14 points. Something like:

Alter 28
Fairmont 14

I'm here ex... just taking a low profile. My prediction is that Alter is going to have a very strong year this season. Region 16's happiness to see the Knights gone is met with the resounding dread being felt by Region 12.

This year's Knights, more than any in recent years, have more to prove. My guess is that we will not see the blowouts of the past and more than a few games will be won on the last possession and/or a 4th quarter surge.

It's going to be an exciting season and I predict there's another long run in store in the post season for the Knights!

Alter 27
Fairmont 21

This was a nice win by Alter. This is the 8th season in a row my wife and I have gone to this game. Each season it seems like a broken record. Fairmont misses on a few opportunities in the first half but keeps in close. Then Alter pulls away in the second half. Zaire is going to be a special football player this year for Alter. I was impressed with Alter overall. I see them having another quality season.

How many passing attempts did Alter have? Does Zaire run a called option or a read option? Looking forward to seeing him and the team play later in the season...

Alter passing attempts were through the roof! I can't remember seeing the pig being flung around this much by the Knights. If I had to guess, I'd have to say they threw upwards to 8 or even 9 times vs. Fairmont. It was incredible!

As far as them running a called or read option, that seems like a redundant question. The play is called by the coaches and in the coarse of it actually taking place, the QB will read how to best run the play. It's how the system is run! Duh!

If you are asking if the QB has the liberty to change the called play once they get to the LOS, I would think there is a limited ability at this point in the season. As the youngsters mature and prove they can make intelligent decisions on the field, the coaching staff give more leeway in play altering decision making on the fly by the players.
