I think this is an intriguing match-up for several reasons. I will offer what I know from the Lexington side. Let's see if our friends can Mount Vernon can join the fun.

FYI -- I am going to monitor this thread. It is here to discuss the season opener for both these quality programs. It is not here for Huddlers to scratch and claw at individual coaches, players, etc. Start that and your post will be deleted.

Having said that:

Lexington returns some quality "skilled position" players with quarterback Collin Michael, RB Andrew Hunt, TE Tanner Kearns, athlete Tyler Jackman and a group of talented receivers. The questions on offense are in the offensive line and those will be answered during a scrimmage Friday against North Ridgeville and a "preview" a week from Friday at Columbus Bishop Watterson.

The Lexington defense should be very good this season. Tremendous speed. Guys who love to run and hit. Maybe not the largest defenders ever -- but they will fly to the ball.

Who can talk about Mount Vernon? I know this is an improving program.

I know Gary Keller resigned down at Mt. Vernon and they brought in Anthony Naples to replace him. I wonder if the offenses and defenses will stay the same or if they will change. Any Mt. Vernon faithful have any incite?

Believe Naples is running the spread. New offensive coordinator also.

Not sure about the defensive side of the ball. Some of the coaches returned but not sure if responsibilities changed, etc.

Not real close to the program but know MV had good participation in the weight room over the off season and are excited to start the season.

Here is Mount Vernon News story when Naples was hired. Sounds like young and aggressive coach.
