The annual Parker’s Purpose Dinner and Grand Auction will be held June 17 at the Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed in Gibsonburg. Parker’s Purpose is a foundation whose mission is to give assistance to children who are ill or disabled and whose family is in an immediate financial crisis.

Last year’s auction raised $17,000 and helped 14 families.

This year’s event starts at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m.

Howard was the 1991 Heisman trophy winner from the University of Michigan, the 1997 Super Bowl MVP for the Green Bay Packers, and is a current member of ESPNs College Gameday staff.

Tickets for the event are $50 and tables of 8 are available for $350. Only 400 tickets are available.

Parker’s Purpose is currently asking for donation items, gift certificates, and monetary donations for the event.

Let's compare:
Desmond Howard is giving his time and lending his name to a cause which helps ill/disabled children get the care that they desperately need.
CrazyTurkey is an anonymous poster who does nothing but call him names -- doing no one any good.
I don't want to cast any aspersions here, so I'll just wonder...... Which one do others think has more class?

Someone needs a reading class. Please point out, without casting aspersions, where exactly I downgraded this cause. I put down the speaker because I think he's a fruit loop. Not once did I say anything negative about where he was speaking. I have more special needs students in my classes than I dare count. I gladly and wholeheartedly give every single day, so spare me...

The parents of the disabled kids as well as all involved with Parker's Purpose are probably thanking Desmond Howard. I think it's a wonderful thing that he is doing.
But you certainly have the right to post your feelings too.
