Have any of you(fans)gone and watch the team you follow practice?

scrimmages, but no practices... if I had a son old enough to play, it might be a different story

We had a set of regular parents watch last year. They sat at the top of the stands....

I watch every chance I get. It really gives you an appreciation of what the players and coaches go through.

I have watched a few times while waiting to pick up kids. I live 15 miles from the school so if I don't have anything to do at home I save the gas and watch the football team, my son plays soccer so I watch that too but I enjoy football more.

I have watched a 2-a-day or two, but I always felt guilty doing it.

Since I have a son playing I have watched quite a few practices, usually just a matter of showing up a bit early to pick him up

Exactly, its the roots of boards like this, a chance to stand around and talk football with others

Yes - I have a son playing so I do watch whenever I get a chance to sneak out of work early. It's usually the same group of dads/boosters. It's a great chance to talk football. My son tells me the kids joke that we are all over there in one group solving the world's problems - global warming, a cure for cancer, world hunger etc.
My son will be a junior so I get to enjoy it for 2 more years - after he graduates though I will still probably stop by to see how the team is doing. I moved into the area 5 years ago and it has such a great football tradition I can't help but become a panther fan for life.

I watch any chance I get, usually the tail end, sometimes more depending on the work schedule. I am from Orrville. Our head coach Doug Davault actually encourages it. he wants the parents/fans to see how hard the kids are working and he also wants the kids to understand how important the Red rider football team is to our community. when you have 5-10 folks watching practice from the sideline in the middle of a hot August day I think the kids understand the work they are doing is important for many reasons. I know some that are parents have that "guilty" feeling and fear being labeled a "helicopter" parent always hovering around.....I feel just the opposite, as long as you are not a distraction by being vocal, I think your presence alone shows a sincere concern for the program. Good topic.
