Sound like with the resurrection of the Licking County League, the OCC stands to loose a few schools.

Haha I was thinking the same thing Boss.
WM wont be sorely missed.
Id like to see TV or CW in their spot. Prolly have to realign though.
I think JA would be a good fit for the Capital or geographically Marion could slip into WMs spot.

ha, that's great! I'd gladly give them Newark. When there was talk of them moving to the Capital Division all I could do is cringe. I don't think Marion Harding is anything but Newark-West.

I was waiting for that!
Can we give them Newark?
With $500 participation fees, we need Newark. That's the game in which everyone on the team gets to play. Last year Central had JVs in the game with 8:00 to go in the 2nd quarter.

The OCC is losing one team, Watkins Memorial. In spite of Newark's sad state of athletics right now, I doubt the new LCL members would want them due to their size. (and if Newark does ever get back to where they should be, it would be difficulat for them to make the playoffs in FB playing and LCL schedule and playing lower level teams would not help the basketball teams (which are decent) get ready for the playoffs.) Newark will remain in the OCC.
I doubt Marion Harding would be allowed in. Geographically, they don't fit anywhere. Jonathan Alder would be a nice fit geographically. Teays would be a problem geographically due to their location. Canal may be the best fit but their financial problems may overshadow their decision on whether to apply or not.
Marion, Marysville, Mt. Vernon, Delaware, Olentangy, New Albany, Big Walnut & Franklin Heights would make a nice division as would Jonathan Alder in Marion's spot. Not sure Teays Valley or Canal would be too well received by the nothern schools.

The all mighty OCC will probably ask them to leave early if they get wind of this. The OCC has gotten out of control with to many member schools. Give me a smaller conference with schools geographically closer to each other. This will result in better rivalries and better gates.

I agree. Why the hell is Mt. Vernon still in the Ohio Cap Conference? They should be in the MBC, MOAC or even the Ohio Card Conference.
Mount Vernon is a charter member of the OCC

You might want to double check that... As I remember the original Ohio Capital Conference as formed in 1969 was Worthington, Gahanna, Westerville, Whitehall, Groveport and Delaware. - I think..... Mt. Vernon was part of the old CBL (Central Buckeye League)

I heard this too, but also heard the primary high school in Sunbury was joining Watkins in going to the "new" LCL....

Dont they do that by dividing it into 4 leagues?
Some of the choices within the leagues puzzle me sometimes though.
I dont mind that they are big. Gives great flexibility like when a member district eliminates sports for 4 of its schools, there is enough partners to get thru the ordeal with scheduling.

Franklin Heights has previously (in the last four years) inquired to different leagues. The problem is, there aren't alot of places for them to go. In all reality, as in the case with Whitehall, the best fit is probably the Columbus City League.

Don't look for this to happen, they are in a good postion as it is and I haven't heard anything saying they are being considered.

Why would a school in Delaware County join a league based on schools in Licking County?

delco, don't look know, but Mt. Vernon was indeed in the CBL, along with Urbana, Whitehall, Delaware, Grandview, Bexley and Upper Arlington. The CBL started to dissolve after the 1965 season when UA left. The OCC formed the same year that the COL (Central Ohio League) did, which was in 1968.

Sorry Moose, I thought you were talking about the CBL in the 70's which consisted of Bexley-Dublin-Big Walnut-Marysville-Buckeye Valley-North Union-Grandview-West Jefferson-Jonathan Alder-New Albany-Academy-Olentangy.

A.D says that has never been discussed at Big Walnut.

It would be insane for BW to discuss something like this....

Here's an idea. Have New Albany annex some of Big Walnut's district (enough so it's in Delaware county). Then a Delaware county league can be formed. It could consist of all the Tangy's, NA, BW, BV, and DH. It could become a battle of the "have's" and "have not's". You have more schools in the league than the CCL has. Speaking of the CCL, heck you could even throw a invitation to DeSales since half their kids come from Delaware county. Of course it would throw the divisional balance out of whack since they'd have to be a part of the "have's".

Bigdog: It would be mightly lonely for the Delaware to have no one to play in the "have not" division. On the plus side, they'd win their division every year.;)

Not quite sure I understand why they put the 2 Hilliards and Dubs in with the 3 Westervilles for the new Cardinal? Wouldnt the tangys make more sense?
