Thank you for participating in the OURWAY Regional and State events. Due to lack of interest the OURWAY All-Star duals have been canceled for this season.

Next season the OURWAY All-Star Duals will happen the day after the 2012 OURWAY State Wrestling Tournament.

This way the All-Star Duals will be on 20 mats and the event will run quickly and be completed early in the day.

I'm sorry to hear that... both of my sons earned spots on those teams... would have been a great experience for them... and... they have been looking forward to it since the Regionals.

Thats too bad git-r-dunn, the central boys were ready to lay a whoopin on those Cincy boys, LOL.

I think the day after is a GREAT idea. Makes for a fun wrestling weekend where Sat is the pressure cooker and the boys can have some fun doing the team dual on Sun.
I think any dual for young kids is great b/c they can feel like a team and cheer for each other. I just hope we can get the commitment for the boys to stay the next day to wrestle. I know if we are fortunate enough to be in top 2, we'll be there.

Really exciting things OURWAY are doing. Great job!

This week The Vipe Pit is a great event to go to.

What should the format be 6th and below....I would think...
it would real hard to do age groups this late as GRD discovered....

Weights?

MPhillips....I got a feeling if the Clash Deuce goes down we will be back to getting sniped...

I say there should be no entry fees or coach bands...everyone pays a few bucks to get in to cover hosting school....Get Certified dad refs to volunteer to ref...but can't ref sons team throughout day...

just a thought....

Thunder, Wads, Demilio, ShyGuy, jhandwerk....your presence is request.....

I enjoyed being involved with the event last year and coaching the NW teams; and believe it was a good event for the wrestlers. Elliot did a great job organizing. I was hoping the event this year would occur in Jan. I would follow the same format as last year, one division - 6 grade and under. Only problem is there may not be an open date until May and it's late in the season with many kids moving on to other sports.

ayw2000
03-30-2011, 11:06 AM
Want no ownership will help coaches with event as organization goes...let's just keep this event ...well...for the kids....no pressure, no fees. Just everyone pays 3,4,5 bucks to get in door (wrestlers included) to cover school...

demilio...I know you know why the event was snubbed out this season in Dec.

Gale, Keato, demilio, mphillips....get ahold of thunder...get venue and date....

Shy Guy your presence is requested on the quarterdeck for SW OH....

Also minus one Ref. Some may think this is a good thing though:)

The further out this goes the less likely it will happen. To many kids moving to other sports and taking a break..

MrMichiganMan
03-31-2011, 02:22 PM
Seems as if this probably won't happen this season. And if it does I do believe as galewrestling says, with so many kids moving on to new sports or being burnt out on wrestling, might not get the best matchups.

I think it would be a GREAT way to kick off next season (or at least relatively early) when everyone is fresh and all excited about the season to do this. Gives everyone a chance to organize their team and will provide better bragging rights.

Though don't get me wrong, if central needs a kid at the boys weight class, we're available. And the sooner Central gets to lay the smack down on other regions, the better!

How many teams are we talking here? I can look into hosting here in Circleville for a date sooner than later! Just need an idea on date and teams?

Im also hosting a team dual on May 21st.....RoundTown Rumble...Keep that in mind also.

MPhillips

I think the best 6th grade and under wrestlers in their respective 'regions' would probably come wrestle. 5-6 hours on a Saturday or Sunday somewhere Centrally located? I'm not sure the best matchups are what's important? Just a chance to give the wrestlers a nice day of wrestling with some good competition at a minimal fee. Just my thoughts.
I know that every region around the state have kids that are just looking to wrestle somewhere close...Especially in the Spring.
If any of you were involved last year...You know what a fun, quality day it was. Low key, relaxed.
Lots of camraderie even amongst the other teams and coaches, isn't that right Demilio? :D Remember you still owe me. The duals are the way to go. The kids love it.
It appears we have the interest...Just need to put our heads together for a venue. We shouldn't give up so quickly.

There it is.
The event last year was brilliant. Well put together with no hassles. Wrestling for the wrestler in front and in back of you. The best 6th grade and under kids don't get that opportunity very often unless it's on some big stage that comes with a 5-10 hour drive.

For the voyage up to Illinois for NUWAY Nationals there is a 37 passenger bus with 21 spots available coming from the Columbus area.

It is $55 per person.

Bus leaves early 4/8 Friday morning and will make stops on the way.

Bus will return Sunday.

So hotel rooms would need to be reserved for Friday and Sat.

This is a first come first serve basis. If the demand is large enough there is access to a larger bus.

Payment will be taken thru paypal
