The big game is finally here #1 Northland vs #2 Gahanna Saturday night. Who do you pick and why? This should be a GREAT game.

As everyone else will probably write the inside game defn favors Northland, but the three headed monster at Gahanna could be difficult for Northland.... Yes Northland has played the best competition in the nation, but I think Gahanna will take em. If Gahanna gets a 5-6 pt lead they can run their Princeton offense till they get the shot they like, if Gahanna can dictate tempo it will favor them. I really like Northland and what they bring to the table, I just like Gahanna a lil bit more. Either way should be a good one Saturday!

Northland other players like Lewis, Cornely, Potts are overshadowed by the 2 big dogs and Burke, but they can play the game. Gahanna 3 guards will do some damage but in the end, it will be Northland by 15-20 points..

Captain Tony: Some say Northland's "other players" are protected by the "2 big dogs and Burke" and not as good as some might think because they don't have to do very much.

This should be a great game, I really like Gahannas up tempo style, if they are hitting from the perimeter they have a great chance. I just have this feeling that the big boy in the middle for Northland, as much as he drives me crazy for only playing hard in spurts, will do what he wants. He is an amazing talent. I really like Trey Burke also. I think Taylor/Burke will nuetralize each other, I don't believe Northland has an answer for Brandenburg but Gahanna can't account for JD and Sully in the paint. I think Northland will pull it out. How early will you need to get there for a ticket to this mess?

I am a Gahanna guy and have seen both play over the last 2 years. As much as I would love to see Gahanna win they will have to play near perfect to win this one. I pick Northland. Size and depth of talent a little too much.

I think Lewis and Cornley will somewhat slow Brnadenburg. And yes Trey and Stevie will be busy with each other. The question is who will slow A.J. Jackson for Gahanna and Big Smooth and Air Spoon for Northland???????????

Coach, you are killing me man...who else is there on Northland's team that played for you that will give A.J. busy...hmmm...I'll let you "chew" on that one...J. Cornley for some reason has given Brandenburg some problems in the summer, so...oh, man, he and Lewis both played for you also right???

So how many former "Dolphins" will be in this game coach??? And I know you had better be there, because there are way too many for you to miss this one...

Oh, and if Taylor and Brandenburg shoot like they did against Coffman last weekend, this game could get out of hand quickly in Northland's favor...

Most saw this game coming, in fact there was a preview in the summer at The Ohio State team camp by way of the championship game. Gahanna got up as many as 18pts before Northland stormed back to win by 1pt at the buzzer. Now a huge side note, literally speaking, Jared didn't play in that game...

In this time of march madness, tournaments, buzzer beaters, upsets, and close games to the very end, why couldnt the same happen in this tournament. Never count out Gahanna even though they are undersized and the big underdog.

In reality though, I think Gahanna will make this a good game but will fall short to Northland. The only way they will be able to slow down Sullinger will be to run a triangle and 2, kind of like Oak Hill ran against Northland earlier in the year. By double teaming sullinger and runing a triangle with the guards, you force the guards from Northland to win the game. This, I think, is Gahanna's best chance for the upset win.

To answer your question, former Dolphins on both teams....A.J. Jackson, Stevie Taylor for Gahanna. Northland JD Weatherspoon, Jordan Potts, KeChaun Lewis, Jakyl Cornley and Roberto Pierre (New Birth Warriors) Oh yeah I have to be there to see my boy's. The parents would never let me forget it. Especially JD and Jordan Dad's  Oh and I have some in the Zanesville/DeSales game that same day Son4.....Tanner Gibson Zanesville (New Birth) and Clinton James, Kenny Cooper (New Birth) and Thomas Nolan for DeSales. Plenty to cheer about over the next two weekends.

I think the game has one key that will sway the tide:

Wing production from Gahanna over Northland's &

Post Production from Northland over Gahanna's.

The sidenote to this is that Brandenburg's production is counted under post play when I look at it as he is technically the 4 man for them. My rankings based on expected production and not overall talent of the players mentioned. Northland has a couple of players who may be better than their matchup but with Northland's depth may not get the chances to produce better than the other player when looking at the role they will play.

Taylor/Burke = even
McDowell(I think)/Potts = even
Jackson/Lewis = G
Brandenburg/JD = G
Bott/Sully = N

Morris,Smith,etc vs Robinson,Scott,etc = N

I feel if Gahanna runs the triangle and 2 and has their day from 3, they can do it! I will still have to bet on Northland by 8-10pts in a game that may be played closer than that score.

Great prediction, Tony. Who did you study basketball under? You really hit THIS one on the nose.

Thanks BUM for pointing out my prediction was wrong. I feel so bad I'm not going into work this week because of all the shame and humiliation. By the way, what was your prediction?
Congrats to Gahanna and good luck this week.
