Name just in your opinion the top 10 bowlers and the top ten teams. (No smack talking or arguing, questions on why those bowlers and teams may be asked though.)

circleville i dont know about anymore we just lost our highest average bowler ty sayre b.c of some problems outside the lanes and inside with the coach so yea we need to find another great 200 average bowler from varsity 2 which is very possible just need to practice with then now more and adjust and i think that they should listen to us when we suggest our opinion

After having a major meltdown my first match, I've recovered from those 148 and 149 games to get my average backup to 165, amazing how just one simple ball change can either break your game or make it, but in my case i went from the down and in ball that didnt have any pickup to either my Black Widow Venom or Cherry Vibe, just depending on the lane conditions, got to love that hook.

that was he weekly average at other houses during the 2 sets. he was HP and CAPRI. ..
his home house if very tuff and demanding all the time. BTW.. NOBODY
I SAY NOBODY has ever averaged 236 at his home house for any season,
his home house is far from the Amusment Parks most of you bowl in.

Not to take anything away from my team, but FORTH!! I know we got some great talent this year, but have you seen us bowl before JWORD? We've only had a team for two years now and seeing us with the likes of Fitch and Centerville is great. Our season is going great though, haven't been touched yet and 6-0, defeating everyone by 250 to 375 every game, but that is due to the lack of competition.

We actually have three bowlers in our starting five that bowl two-handed. Two of them travel in the summer and bowl on sport patterns all the time so they are experienced on all conditions. I'm curious how we stand against some of the teams from the northern part of the state. We don't get to see them very much.

Coldwater and Wes Steinecker deserve mention as does Trent Haughn from Ottawa Glandorf in the same conference
really cannot understand why a former state championship team as well as strong finishes in two big events this season gets so little love ... not sure any school other than Kenton Ridge has any better pedigree

Matt Huffman and Aaron Wilson from Alder both are in the top ten in averages in central ohio. Huffman was averaging 236 at one point and was named Columbus Dispatch Athlete of the week. Watch out for them!
Aaron is a good bowler and has alot ahead of him but for Matt Huffman how can he be on the highschool bowling team when he Bowled in the Tuesday night mens league in Plain City last year and he subed in the Thursday night Scratch league in Plain City to. Plus he has Bowled in some tournments last year as well one being a Mens Double tournment in Mechanicsburg last year with another kid from Plain City.

League bowling is OK for HS Bowlers as long as all independent competition has ended prior to joining the HS team. This can even be after the HS team has began play. There is a deadline where independant competition must stop and a bowler could then no longer join the team. Many HS bowlers are in leagues and even PRE bowl thier league play to a point when they can pick it back up after the HS season is over.
The only violation would be if a bowler were to bowl in independent competition AFTER joining the HS squad.
Someone please correct me if I have misssated any of this

How can he be cleared when he won money in the tournment?
Mr. Huffman's AD has contacted the OHSAA. With Alder being a first year
team, at the time of the incident bowling wasn't even a thought @ alder, wasn't approved by school board. that is part of it.
Also by reporting the incident to them they are aware it.
it's not like we are talking LeBron Money$$, OJ Majo.. ect.ect
it's what $100 or so..? Also kids can bowl in Men's leagues as long
as they don't recieve prize money @ the end of the season. Mr. Huffman
sub's on those leagues, never paid anything.
Also it states in bylaws eligibilty check list this info.
9. I have not received an award, equipment or prize valued at greater than $200 per item
7) Non-Interscholastic Participation
A member of an interscholastic bowling squad (any student who has played in a scrimmage, or regular season/tournament contest) sponsored by the Board of Education shall not participate in a non-interscholastic contest during the school’s bowling season (Bylaw 10-3-2).
SPORTS REGULATIONS2008-09 BOWLINGNOTE:
Examples of non-interscholastic bowling contests include, but are not limited
to, club or intramural bowling, bowling facility championships, tournaments,
leagues (adult and/or youth), charitable events and other events that are organized for the purpose of competition.
I hope this clear's this up... Jonathan Alder Checked into this incident,
to ensure the Eligibilty of it's Athletes, knowing that the First year bowling
team was going to be a STATE CALIBER TEAM.

Preface this with I am not a rules expert or an eligibility expert. I was told that once you participate in an adult league that has a monetary prize, your eligibility is forfeit. However, I have been able to find nothing in the bowling handbook or OHSAA bylaws to support this. I think this is so new that the picture surrounding bowling eligibility is still too fuzzy. Im sure to be brought into focus soon....

sportsnutz,
Mr. Huffman bowled 79 games in one of the leagues, I would hardly call that being a 'sub'. Being that prize money in most leagues is paid to teams and not players, Im not sure you can prove or disprove that he didnt receive money for play.
Also, we have all seen OHSAA take drastic steps against football and basketball teams just for filing incorrect paperwork, so I hope this incident does not tarnish what Alder is building out there because they are good bowlers and have a good team!

He might not of took the money from the league. But he bowled in the Thanksgiving Shootout in Mechanicsburg In 2007 that payed $600 to the winner. He then bowled in the December Doubles Tournment that payed $350 to the winners and he placed second so he has recieved money. Plus to top it all off his coach bowled in the thanksgiving tournment so he should know that he has bowled for money.

I think what this will do is drive the OHSAA to clarify this rule, but unless there is a rule already in place about being sanctioned or receiving money that I couldnt find, it most probably will be allowed.

I believe that AD and Jonathan Alder coach ensured that Mr. Huffman was
ok.. bowling was not a sport @ jonathan alder during 2007-2008..
also bowling 79 games as a sub.. he got alot of games in!!eh
The AD confirmed this again today with his correspondence with OHSAA..
also.. OHSAA doesn' care about YABA or USBC.. so don't get the rules mixed up. His coach knows of his play, and checked into it..
Mr. Huffman is no Lebron or Mayo.. we aren't talking about thousands of dollars.. a agent a shoe contract.. a hummer.. it's pennys on the dollar
compared to AAU basketball. CLUB SOCCER TEAM.. CLUB SOFTBALL TEAM
that pay coaches, pay for travel, meal money, gear, shirts, ect.ect..
I truly understand your point of view and concern 84belltone!!
If Jonathan Alder would have bowling started before 2008-2009
Mr. Huffman wouldn't have bowled those events.
So what's the issue here.. did he get your $5.00 bucks that day?
Alder runs a class program..It will continue to be a class program, It will become an elite program and State Power in up coming years.

Stienecker has been part of a state champion team [not many here can say that] as well as National Pepsi Champ [with 300 in that event]
Incidently at those moments when their 220's become 190's - such will be the case as well for all the 'studs' mentioned here... 235 averages do not happen in the northwest ...

Not necessarily true about the rules of the YABA / USBC as the sport of bowling in Ohio is being managed by those rules... then again if the USBC can look the other way at the dual play rule who knows what they feel here ..
and then again you all sign the sanction card and to me it has always been clear... play for pay ... done in YABA / USBC

As for an answer to an earlier question Chris Via and Ryan Dobie have traveled to a lot of JTBA tournaments as well as Teen Masters and Junior Gold events. Our sixth man Zach Shonkwiler averages 194.

Very funny, mr. craig. I did that because I posted something at school, and it was submitted as a different name. Actually you replied to it. My messege was submitted as Nash14, and that's the post that I got our score switched with Fitch. lol... I wanted to make sure it works correctly now.
But yeah.. Spuh-loosh! haha

Boardman and Libertt didn't even make it out of Districts. How can you not have Warren Harding listed. They finished 9th in 2009 at state by 26 pins and all but 1 bowler came back. They will be at state again this weekend.
