Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Awards

This winter we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to again award weekly player and team of the week honors in ice hockey, boys & girls swimming, boys & girls bowling and wrestling.

Each week (regular and postseason) during the winter sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive a personalized award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Tuesday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Monday, after which the winners will be announced.

WEEK 12 GIRLS BOWLING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

*Jenna Stone, Troy (VOTE)
Rolled a 729 series to win the D-I Southwest district title.

*Jessica Pitt, Kenton Ridge (VOTE)
Rolled a state finals record 712 series to win the D-II state championship.

*Carmie Shook, Zanesville (VOTE)
Rolled a 710 series to win the D-I Central District title.

*Tyahana Elder, Twinsburg (VOTE)
Sophomore rolled a 580 series to win the D-I Northeast district title.

*Emily Krosnick, Norton (VOTE)
Junior rolled 698 series to finish D-II state runner-up.

WEEK 12 GIRLS BOWLING TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

*Mechanicsburg (VOTE)
The Indians won the D-II state title for the second time in three years with a 3-1 victory over Napoleon in the finals. Rallied from 2-1 deficit to oust defending state champion Coldwater 3-2 in semifinals.

*Centerville (VOTE)
The Elks won the D-I Southwest district title.

*Napoleon (VOTE)
The Wildcats finished D-II state runner-up for the second straight season

*Columbus Briggs (VOTE)
The Bruins won their second D-I Central district title in three years and advanced to the state tournament for the fourth straight season.

*Twinsburg (VOTE)
The Lady Tigers qualified for the program’s first state tournament by winning the D-I Northeast district title.

*Wapakoneta (VOTE)
The Redskins won the D-I Northwest district title.

WEEK 12 BOYS BOWLING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

*Joe Stevens, Anderson (VOTE)
Rolled a 744 series to win the D-I Southwest district title.

*Joe Teeter, Mississinawa Valley (VOTE)
Rolled a D-II finals record 748 series to win the D-II state championship. Teeter’s mark is the second highest in state finals history regardless of division.

*Cameron Singer, Northland (VOTE)
Sophomore rolled a 775 series to win the D-I Central district title.

*Stephen Jackson, Springfield Shawnee (VOTE)
Senior rolled a 721 series to finish state runner-up in D-II.

*William Jones, Tiffin Columbian (VOTE)
Rolled a 671 series to win the D-I Lima district title.

*Matt McKee, Kenton Ridge (VOTE)
Senior tied a D-II state finals single-game record with a 278.

*Caleb Johnson, Hubbard (VOTE)
Junior tied a D-II state finals single-game record with a 278.

*Dean Vargo, Willoughby South (VOTE)
Rolled a 717 series to win the D-I Northeast district title.

WEEK 12 BOYS BOWLING TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

*Miamisburg (VOTE)
The Vikings rallied from sixth to first after six Baker games to win the D-I Southwest district title by 13 pins over Sidney.

*Urbana (VOTE)
The Hillclimbers won the program’s first state title with a 3-2 victory over defending champ Coldwater in D-II. Urbana was in the state tournament for the third time but had failed to make the championship round in its previous two trips.

*Pickerington North (VOTE)
The Panthers won the D-I Central district title.

*Wapakoneta (VOTE)
The Redskins won the D-I Northwest district title.

*Springfield (VOTE)
The Wildcats rolled 4,459 to finish third at the D-I Southwest district and earn the program’s first state tournament berth.

*Nordonia (VOTE)
The Knights won the D-I Northeast District title.
