Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Awards
This fall we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to award weekly player and team of the week honors in girls golf, boys golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, volleyball, boys cross country, girls cross country and girls tennis.
Each week (regular and postseason) during the fall sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive a personalized award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.
How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday, after which the winners will be announced.

WEEK 12 VOLLEYBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Taylor Daignault, Newark Catholic (VOTE)
Had 21 kills and 31 digs in a 3-1 loss to McComb in the D-IV state semifinals.
Hallie Benanzer, Fort Loramie (VOTE)
Senior set a state tournament record for assists in a four-set match with 49 in a 3-1 win over previously unbeaten McComb in the D-IV state final. She had 32 assists in a 3-0 semifinal win over Celveland VASJ.
Hannah Cantrill, Huron (VOTE)
Had 17 kills and 13 digs in a 3-1 D-III state final win over Gilmour Academy. Also had 12 kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 state semifinal win over Adena.
Stephanie Williams, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (VOTE)
Senior dominated the D-II regional semifinal with 27 kills and 17 digs in a 3-1 win over Padua Franciscan. Added 25 kills and 17 digs in a 3-1 state final win over Hartley.
Emily Weigand, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (VOTE)
Sophomore had 45 assists in the Lions 3-1 D-II state final win over Hartley. Also had 41 assists and 12 digs in a 3-1 win over Padua Franciscan in the state semifinals.
Jocelyn Meyer, Alter (VOTE)
Had 28 kills in a 3-2 D-II state semifinal loss to Hartley.
Emily Rahe, Hartley (VOTE)
Had 56 assists in a 3-2 D-II state semifinal win over Alter. Added 43 assists and 24 digs in a 3-1 state final loss to NDCL.
Stephanie Sylvester, Toledo St. Ursula (VOTE)
Had 41 assists in a 3-1 loss to Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame in the D-I state semifinals.
Kelly Turner, Fort Loramie (VOTE)
Had 15 kills and 19 digs in a 3-1 D-IV state final win over previously unbeaten McComb. Also had 17 kills and nine digs in a 3-0 state semifinal win over Cleveland VASJ.
Jessica Towle, Mount Notre Dame (VOTE)
Senior had 38 assists in a 3-1 D-I state semifinal win over Toledo St. Ursula and had 36 assists in a 3-0 state final win over Massillon Jackson.
WEEK 12 VOLLEYBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Fort Loramie (VOTE)
The Redskins advanced to their first state final and won their first state title with a 3-1 win over previously unbeaten McComb in the D-IV state final. Loramie beat Cleveland VASJ 3-0 in the semifinals.
Mount Notre Dame (VOTE)
After falling behind 1-0, the Cougars rallied to beat the nation’s No. 1 ranked team Toledo St. Ursula 3-1 in the D-I state semifinals. The state final? MND beat Massillon Jackson 3-0 for the program’s OHSAA-record tying eighth championship. The Cougars have won three of the last four D-I titles.
The Tigers won the program’s fourth state title with a 3-1 win over Gilmour Academy in the D-III state final. Huron won its state semifinal 3-0 over Adena.
Despite not having a senior on the roster, McComb made its second straight D-IV state tournament and advanced to the D-IV state final before losing to Fort Loramie 3-1. The Panthers finished the season 29-1 and are 58-2 the last two years.
Gilmour Academy (VOTE)
The Lancers fell 3-1 to Huron in the D-III state final to finish runner-up for the fifth time. Gilmour was playing in its sixth state tournament since 2007. The Lancers won their state semifinal match 3-0 over Versailles.
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (VOTE)
The Lions won their first state title in their first state tournament appearance with a 3-1 victory over Hartley in the D-II state final. NDCL beat Padua Franciscan 3-1 in the state semis.
