Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Awards
This fall we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to award weekly player and team of the week honors in girls golf, boys golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, volleyball, boys cross country, girls cross country and girls tennis.
Each week (regular and postseason) during the fall sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive a personalized award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.
How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday, after which the winners will be announced.

WEEK 11 VOLLEYBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Hadley Sterett, Huron (VOTE)
Had 26 kills and 25 digs in a 3-1 D-III regional final win over Coldwater.
Loryn Huffman, McComb (VOTE)
Sophomore setter had 44 assists in a 3-0 D-IV regional final win over Monroeville to give her 1,100 for the season, which is a new state record. The previous single-season assist record of 1,093 was set by Lehman Catholic’s Emilee Seger in 2005.
Taylor Daignault, Newark Catholic (VOTE)
Had 19 digs, 12 kills and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Beaver Eastern in the D-IV regional finals.
Stephanie Williams, NDCL (VOTE)
Senior captain led the Lions with 16 digs, 14 kills and two blocks in a 3-0 D-II regional final win over Akron Hoban.
Alexis Gilland, Tuscarawas Valley (VOTE)
Had 29 kills in a 3-2 D-III regional semifinal loss to Adena.
Kelly Turner, Fort Loramie (VOTE)
Senior had 33 kills in the Redskins regional wins over Minster and Springfield Catholic. Also had 21 kills and 12 digs in a district final win over Fairlawn.
WEEK 11 VOLLEYBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Columbus DeSales (VOTE)
The Stallions advanced to the D-I state tournament for the third straight season with a 3-0 win over Coffman. DeSales trailed in every set.
Newark Catholic (VOTE)
The Green Wave dominated Beaver Eastern 3-0 en route to winning their second straight D-IV regional title and 19th overall. NC won its regional semi match 3-0 over Fairfield Christian.
Toledo St. Ursula (VOTE)
The Arrows remained unbeaten (28-0) and won their fifth straight D-I regional title with a 3-0 win over Brunswick. St. Ursula is making its 11th state tournament appearance.
The Tigers earned their seventh state berth and first since 2009 with a 3-1 win over Coldwater in a D-III regional final. Huron trailed 17-11 in the fourth set before coming back to win 29-27 and advance.
Padua Franciscan (VOTE)
Defending D-II state champion punched another ticket to state with a 3-1 win over Norwalk in the regional finals.
Mount Notre Dame (VOTE)
Defending D-I state champions punched their ticket to state with a 3-0 win over rival Cincinnati Ursuline in the regional finals. MND is going for the program’s eighth state title.
The Warriors won the grudge match with SVC rival Westfall and captured a regional title with a 3-1 victory in the D-III finals.
The Knights earned their fifth straight state tournament berth with a 3-0 win over Kenton Ridge in a D-II regional final.
Fort Loramie (VOTE)
The Redskins earned the program’s first state tournament berth with a 3-0 win over Springfield Catholic in a D-IV final. Fort Loramie beat neighboring rival Minster 3-1 in the regional semis.
