Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Awards

This fall we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to award weekly player and team of the week honors in girls golf, boys golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, volleyball, boys cross country, girls cross country and girls tennis.

Each week (regular and postseason) during the fall sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive a personalized award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday, after which the winners will be announced.

WEEK 8 VOLLEYBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Veronica Gehring, Cuyahoga Heights (VOTE)
Had 20 kills and went over 1,000 career kills in a 3-0 win over Hawken. Also had 14 digs and three blocks.

Kara Scherger, New Riegel (VOTE)
Senior had 17 kills en route to setting the school’s career record for kills in a 3-0 win over Old Fort. Scherger now has 1,192 kills. The previous record was held by her first cousin (Jackie Reinhart).

Shelby Kin, Carey (VOTE)
Became just the third player in school history to surpass 300 kills in a season when she had 19 in a 3-0 win over Seneca East.

Brittany Knight, Windham (VOTE)
Had 20 kills and 20 digs in a 3-1 win over Maplewood.

Anna Morrow, Canton South (VOTE)
Had 28 kills and 12 digs in a 3-1 win over Marlington.

Breanna Miner, Mineral Ridge (VOTE)
Had 48 assists, 17 digs and five kills in a 3-2 win over Springfield.

Brooke Westbeld, Fairmont (VOTE)
Junior had 34 kills, 21 assists and 14 digs in a 3-2 loss to Miamisburg.

Katie Bush, Mechanicsburg (VOTE)
Notched her 1,000th career assist when she had 31 assists, 28 digs and 14 kills in a 3-2 win over DeGraff Riverside.

Abby Barth, Brecksville-Broadview Heights (VOTE)
Was named MVP of the eight-team Mayfield Invitational after helping the Bees to the team title.

WEEK 8 VOLLEYBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Roger Bacon (VOTE)
The Spartans beat McNicholas 3-2 to win their first GCL Central Division title since 2009. RB was the outright champ.

Philo (VOTE)
The Electrics rallied from a 15-6 deficit in the third set of a tied game to beat Tri-valley 3-2 and capture the first Muskingum Valley League title in program history.

Beaver Eastern (VOTE)
The Eagles won their 16th straight SOC title with a 3-2 victory over Porstmouth Notre Dame. Eastern ends the regular season 21-1 and 14-0 in the SOC.

Lutheran West (VOTE)
The Longhorns clinched the PAC Stripes Division title with a 3-2 win over Lorain Clearview.

Revere (VOTE)
The Minutemen captured their first league title in since 1976 with a 3-0 win over Green to captured the Suburban League championship.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights (VOTE)
The Bees won the eight-team Mayfield Invitational with a 2-1 win over Kent Roosevelt in the final.

Ottawa-Glandorf (VOTE)
The Titans won their third straight WBL title (outright) with a 3-0 win over Lima bath.

Jackson Center (VOTE)
The Tigers completed an undefeated regular season (21-0) and wrapped up a perfect 12-0 SCL slate with a 3-0 win over Fort Loramie.

Avon (VOTE)
The Eagles beat Midview 3-0 to win the final the West Shore Conference title with a perfect 12-0 record.

Upper Sandusky (VOTE)
The Rams beat Monroeville 3-2 in a huge non-league match-up of state-ranked teams.
