Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Awards

This fall we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to award weekly player and team of the week honors in girls golf, boys golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, volleyball, boys cross country, girls cross country and girls tennis.

Each week (regular and postseason) during the fall sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive a personalized award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday, after which the winners will be announced.

WEEK 7 VOLLEYBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Makenna Steinbrook, Unioto (VOTE)
Tied the state record for assists in a game when she had 72 in a 3-2 win over Westfall.

Katie Stansbury, Padua Franciscan (VOTE)
Notched her 1,000th kill (and had 17) in a 3-0 win over Hoban. Added 30 kills and 15 digs in a 3-2 win over Lake Catholic.

Megan Polak, Gilmour Academy (VOTE)
Senior notched her 3,000th career assist in a 3-0 win over Independence. Also had 52 assists and five blocks in a 3-2 win over Kenston.

Taylor Hughes, Bloom-Carroll (VOTE)
Senior surpassed 1,500 career assists with 12 in a 3-0 win over Circleville. Surpassed 1,000 career kills earlier this season.

Jamie Peterson, West Liberty-Salem (VOTE)
Had 30 kills, 14 digs and five blocks in a 3-1 win over South Charleston Southeastern.

Valisha Watkins, Beachwood (VOTE)
Had 27 kills, 20 digs and three blocks in a 3-2 win over Wickliffe.

Tyra Darden, Elyria (VOTE)
Had 27 kills, 21 digs and three blocks in a 3-1 win over Solon.

Madison Lammers, New Knoxville (VOTE)
Had 33 digs and 16 kills in a 3-2 loss to Coldwater.

Sara Skeens, Triway (VOTE)
Had 31 kills and 18 digs in a 3-2 loss to Tuscarawas Valley.

WEEK 7 VOLLEYBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Normandy (VOTE)
The Invaders won a share of their fourth straight NOC River Division title with a 3-1 win over Valley Forge.

Cardinal (VOTE)
Won the CVC Valley Division for the second year in a row with a 3-0 victory over Berkshire.

Newark Catholic (VOTE)
The Green Wave won at least a share of the LCL title with a 3-0 win over Utica.

Toledo Christian (VOTE)
The Eagles won a share of their sixth straight TAAC title with a 3-0 win over Tiffin Calvert that snapped the Senecas 12-game winning streak.

Dalton (VOTE)
The Bulldogs won a share of their third WCAL title in four years with a 3-0 win over defending champion Waynedale.

Orrville (VOTE)
The Red Riders won at least a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference title with a 3-0 win over Clear Fork.

Columbus Grove (VOTE)
The Bulldogs won at least a share of the NWC title with a 3-2 win over Ada.

Wheelersburg (VOTE)
The Pirates won the Alexander Invitational with wins over Nelsonville-York, Huntington Ross and Alexander.

Monroeville (VOTE)
The Eagles took a huge step towards stopping Norwalk St. Paul’s 14-year run as Firelands Conference champions by sweeping the season series with the Fliers with a 3-1 win. Monroeville, which beat St. Paul 3-2 in the season’s first meeting, leads the Fliers in the conference standings by two games. It was St. Paul’s third FC loss in the last 124 conference games (and all three losses are to Monroeville).

Portsmouth (VOTE)
The Trojans won at least a share of the OVC title with a 3-0 win over Ironton.
