Meigs’ Davis wins National Guard Ohio HS Football Player of the Week Award

You voted, you decided…who had Ohio’s best individual performance in Week 1? The competition for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio HS Football Player Of the Week is over. And it was a good one. Over 19,000 votes were cast and the winner is Meigs’ Michael Davis.

Davis will receive a personalized banner suitable for hanging, certificates and bracelets from the Ohio National Guard and JJHuddle.

Senior pulled off an impressive double by becoming just the seventh player in state history to rush for eight TDs or more in a game and the seventh player in state history to score nine TDs or more in a game in a 79-69 win over Fairland. Davis ran for 352 yards and eight TDs on 37 carries. He was also three-of-four passing for 36 yards and had three receptions for 54 yards and a TD.

WR converted to QB shined in first game under center. Ran for 217 yards and six TDs on 15 carries and completed 16-of-24 passes for 206 yards and two TDs in a win over Paulding.
