Wayne Trace’s Showalter wins National Guard Ohio HS Football Player of the Week Award

You voted, you decided…who had Ohio’s best individual performance in Week 1? The competition for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio HS Football Player Of the Week is over. And it was a good one. An amazing 145,500-plus votes were cast and this week’s winners is…Wayne Trace’s Tyler Showalter. Showalter had 71,987 votes! A special shoot out needs to go to North Baltimore and Lane Bishop. Bishop finished second with 68,256 votes! Hats off to those communities and players.

Showalter will receive a personalized banner suitable for hanging, certificates and bracelets from from the Ohio National Guard and JJHuddle.

Week 1 Winner

Tyler Showalter, Wayne Trace
WR converted to QB shined in first game under center. Ran for 217 yards and six TDs on 15 carries and completed 16-of-24 passes for 206 yards and two TDs in a win over Paulding.

    These vote totals are a little suspect here. 72,000 votes for someone at a school where the entire county population is less than 20,000? High School football is popular here in Ohio, but this seems a bit out of the ordinary.

    Wasn’t just his county voting. We are a small community so when something like this comes along normally the 4 or 5 counties around, including some in Indiana vote. Pretty Cool.
