WEEK 10 SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
*Kelsie Robinson, Westfall
Went 1-for-8 in two state tournament games, but that one hit was big one. With a runner on second in the 14th inning of a scoreless game, Robinson connected for her team’s first hit and knocked in the game-winning run as the Mustangs beat Bloom-Carroll 1-0 in the D-III state final.
WEEK 10 SOFTBALL TEAM OF THE WEEK
The Redskins won the school’s first state title in any sport when Brittany Nero hit in Morgan Orlowski with two outs in the seventh inning for a 2-1 win over Minster in the D-IV state final. CH beat Wayne race 6-1 in the state semifinals.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
*Tara Trainer, Lebanon
Junior pitcher struck out the first 14 batters she faced and 18 total in a 4-1 win over Greenville. Trainer also struck out the side to end the game in the seventh. She added a sac fly RBI in the sixth, part of a three-run Warrior inning. In a 5-0 win over Fairfield, Trainer threw a complete game one-hitter and K’d 15.
*Ashlee Dahman, Amherst Steele
Went 4-for-4 with a HR, three doubles and seven RBIs in a 9-0 win over Avon.
*Sarah Miller, Amherst Steele
Freshman hit two HRs and had a triple and five RBIs in an 8-4 win over Medina.
*Laura Stubbs, Akron Springfield
Had two doubles, a HR, five RBIs and two runs scored in a 12-7 win over Mantua Crestwood.
*Lexi Falde, Mansfield Christian
In two wins over East Knox (6-0 and 9-1), allowed two hits (one each game) and K’d 29. Followed that with a one-hit shutout of Central Christian (K’d 12) and then teamed with Rachel Pfeiffer to no-hit CC in the second game of the doubleheader.
*Payton Kuenzli, Ontario
Threw a perfect game and K’d 14 in a six-inning 10-0 win over Tiffin Columbian.
*Addy Bame, Hardin Northern
Junior standout K’d 10, allowed five hits, hit two HRs and knocked in all three runs in the Polar Bears 3-0 shutout win over Ada in the D-IV sectional final.
*Miranda Benschoter, Elmwood
Junior led off the sixth inning with a triple that would eventually become the winning run in a 1-0 win over Archbold in a D-III district final. Was also the winning pitcher, firing a complete-game three-hit shutout.
*Mady Watson, Jonathan Alder
Threw a complete-game three-hitter in a 6-2 win over Springfield Northwestern in the D-III regional semifinals. Followed with the game-winning hit (a seventh-inning double) in an 8-7 regional final victory over Springfield Shawnee. Also pitched a complete-game with nine Ks.
TEAMS OF THE WEEK
Pitchers Maddie Borchers and Katie Schwartz combined for a no-hitter as the Raiders provided head coach Michelle Baker with a win (15-0 over Botkins) in her debut.
Improved to 5-0 by winning its four games (over Sycamore, Oak Hills, Middletown and Hamilton) by the combined score of 36-2.
The Vikings handed nationally-ranked Bloom-Carroll its first loss of the season, 2-0, in Mid-State League Buckeye Division play. B-C, which entered ranked No. 10 in the country by MaxPreps and No. 15 by USA Today, was held to three hits.
A day after notching a big Midland Athletic League victory over New Riegel (then-ranked No. 2 in the state), the Warriors run-ruled 10-win Arlington 11-0. Swept a doubleheader with Arcadia 11-8 and 12-1 thanks in part to six HRs and 24 hits. Mohawk has won 11 straight.
Big Red captured the first OVAC 4A title in program history with a 4-2 win over Harrison Central.
Arrows wrapped up the OHC title with a 4-2 win over Mansfield Madison.
The Aces set a school record for wins in a season by improving to 15-3 with an 11-1 victory over Edon in a D-IV sectional final.
The Wildcats won their first district title in 10 years and just second overall with a 2-1 win over Hamilton Ross in a D-II final. Ross beat Franklin in last year’s District final.
Three-time state runner-up earned its first regional title since 2000 and fifth overall with a 14-6 victory over Milton-Union in a D-III regional final.
