Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Spring Awards

This spring we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to award weekly player and team of the week honors in baseball, softball, girls track, boys track, boys tennis, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse.

Each week during the spring sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive an award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday, after which the winners will be announced.



*Cameron Varga, CHCA (VOTE)
Senior and UNC recruit threw a no-hitter in the Eagles 3-0 win over Orrville in the D-III state semifinals. He K’d 15 and walked one.

*Grant Muhlenkamp, Coldwater (VOTE)
Senior was the winning pitcher in both of the Cavs state games – a 3-2 semifinal win over Wheelersburg and 4-2 final win over CHCA. At the plate he combined to go 3-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

*Clay Pittman, Tinora (VOTE)
Senior was the winning pitcher in both the Rams state tournament games – a 4-3 senmifinal win over Convoy Crestview and a 4-3 state final win over Newark Catholic. Pittman also went 3-for-7 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored.

*Sam Bordner, Bloom-Carroll (VOTE)
Junior helped the Bulldogs to the D-II state title by being the winning pitcher in a 10-0 state semifinal win over Perkins. Bordner allowed one hit and K’d six of the nine batters he faced. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two Runs scored. Brodner finished the season 9-0.

*Sam Miller, Massillon Jackson (VOTE)
Sophomore pitcher got the W in both the Polar Bears state tournament games to end the season 8-0. Miller started the Polar Bears 4-2 semifinal win over Moeller and allowed four hits, one walk and no earned runs in four innings. He came on in relief in Jackson’s 5-1 state final win over North Royalton and allowed no earned runs and two hits in four innings.

*Corey Stanley, Bloom-Carroll (VOTE)
Helped the Bulldogs win their first state title by being the winning pitcher in B-C’s 9-0 win over Jonathan Alder in the D-II final. Stanley threw all seven innings and allowed four hits and no walks. He finished the season 10-0.


*Tinora (VOTE)
The Rams won the school’s first state title in any sport with a 4-3 victory over Newark Catholic in the D-IV state final. Tinora beat Convoy Crestview 4-3 in the state semifinals. Tinora has lost in the state semifinals that last three years.

*Massillon Jackson (VOTE)
The Polar Bears won their first D-I baseball title with a 5-1 victory over North Royalton. Jackson scored two runs in the first inning and never trailed. In the semifinals, Jackson beat two-time defending state Moeller 4-2.

*Bloom-Carroll (VOTE)
The Bulldogs dominated the postseason competition en route to winning their first D-II state title. B-C won its state semifinal and final by a combined 19-0. It won its seven tournament games 55-2.

*Coldwater (VOTE)
Playing in their 20th state tournament, the Cavaliers won the program’s sixth state title and first since 1992 with a 4-2 victory over CHCA in the D-III state final. Coldwater beat two-time defending state champion Wheelersburg 4-3 in 10 innings in the state semifinals.
