Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Spring Awards
This spring we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to award weekly player and team of the week honors in baseball, softball, girls track, boys track, boys tennis, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse.
Each week during the spring sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive an award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.
How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday, after which the winners will be announced.
WEEK 7 GIRLS TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
*Carly Truckor, Evergreen (VOTE)
At the 88th annual Northwest Ohio Athletic League track meet, became just the second girl to win four individual titles when she finished first in the 100 (12.77), 200 (25.95), 100 hurdles (16.07) and 300 hurdles (48.79).
*Taylor Baker, Paint Valley (VOTE)
Set the Scioto Valley Conference discus record with a mark of 138-3.
*Aisha Jackson, Warren Harding (VOTE)
Sophomore won four events – 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, high jump and 1,600 relay – at the American Athletic Conference Red Division meet.
*MaryKate McElroy, Fort Frye (VOTE)
Freshman won four events and set a meet record in the 1,600 (5:24.32) at the Pioneer Valley Conference meet. She also won the 800 and 3,200 and was on the winning 1,600 relay.
*Raelyn Gardner, Vincent Warren (VOTE)
Was a four-time champ at the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League meet. Set a school record and won the pole vault with a vault of 11-6. Also won the 100 and was on the winning 400 and 800 relays.
*Sammy Bockoven, CVCA (VOTE)
Won four events (800, 1,600, 1,600 relay and 3,200 relay) at the Principals’ Athletic Conference meet. Her 800 time was a new PAC record.
*Bekah Carr, Celina (VOTE)
Won the 100 hudles (15.77), 300 hurdles (47.73), pole vault (10-2) and long jump (17-5 ¾).
*Taylor Thompkins, Canton South (VOTE)
Ran PRs and set new Northern Buckeye Conference records in the 100 (12.18) and 200 (25.59) and also anchored the winning 400 relay at the NBC meet.
*Katherine Lehman, Dover (VOTE)
Senior broke her own East Central Ohio League meet record in the 3,200 by nearly 35 seconds and set a PR by over 14 seconds when she ran a 10:57.89. Also won the 1,600.
*Brittany Atkinson, Liberty Center (VOTE)
Set Northwest Ohio Athletic League track meet records in the 1,600 (5:06.56) and 3,200 (11:04.49) en route to winning both events. Also anchored the Tigers winning 3,200 relay.
WEEK 7 GIRLS TRACK & FIELD TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
*Warren Harding (VOTE)
The Raiders won the American Athletic Conference Red Division title in their first year with a 126-109 win over runner-up Austintown-Fitch at the conference meet.
Led by four-event winner Bekah Carr, the Bulldogs won their third straight Western Buckeye League title with a 100-90 victory over runner-up Ottawa-Glandorf. Senior Michaela Wenning, who is headed to the University of Colorado to run track and is out with a stress fracture, walked the final leg of the 1,600 relay to cap the Bulldogs meet.
The Leopards scored in every event and finished third in the 1,600 relay to win their fifth Northern Buckeye Conference title in six years with a narrow 107.5-106.5 victory over Canton South.
The Tigers won the final North Central Conference meet title with a convincing 169.5-125 win over Colonel Crawford.
*Watkins Memorial (VOTE)
The Warriors won the Licking County League meet title with a 180-164.5 win over Granville.
The Blue Devils won their third straight Midland Athletic League team title in the affiliations final season. The MAL disbands after this school year. Carey scored in 15 of 17 events to beat runner-up Tiffin Calvert 101-86.
The Rams won their fifth straight Green Meadows Conference track title by beating runner-up Holgate 126-85. Tori Abdul was a double winner (1,600 and 3,200).
The Eagles won their 14th straight league title, including three straight in the Northern Buckeye Conference with a 172-116 win over runner-up Elmwood. Eastwood won 11 straight titles prior in the Suburban Lakes League. The Eagles won seven events at the NBC meet.
*Toledo Christian (VOTE)
The Eagles won their seventh straight Toledo Area Athletic Conference title with a 163-148 win over runner-up Gibsonburg.
