OHIO NORTH-SOUTH CLASSIC RETURNS TO WELCOME STADIUM

NATION’S LONGEST-RUNNING HIGH-SCHOOL ALL-STAR GAME TO BRING 170 OF STATE’S BEST FOOTBALL PLAYERS TO DAYTON

DAYTON, Ohio – More than 140 of the best high-school football players in Ohio will be on display Saturday, April 26 when the Ohio North-South Classic is held at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium for the second straight year.

This year’s North-South Classic will again feature two games, with the Division IV-VII game to kick off at 11 a.m. and Division I-III game set for 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and include admission to both games.

As the longest running high-school football all-star game in the nation, the 69th Annual Ohio North-South Classic is widely recognized as the leading all-star game in the Midwest and among the best in the country. This will be the second straight year that the game is played in Dayton’s Welcome Stadium.

This year’s game again features a majority of the state’s top-ranked graduating seniors, including Ohio State signees Parris Campbell of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary and Brady Taylor of Columbus Ready. In all, more than 40 of the players in the two game will continue their careers at major-college football programs.

In the Division I-III game, John Demarco of Louisville with coach the North and Ron Hinton of Chillicothe will coach the South. In the Division IV-VII game, Andy Hake of Western Reserve will coach the North and Brad Burchfield of Columbus Hartley will coach the South.

“We are proud to again bring together the best high school football players in Ohio for the Ohio North-South Classic and honored to present this year’s game in prime time on the eve of the Ohio State Spring Game,” said Steve Channel, head coach at Miamisburg High School and game coordinator of the Ohio North-South Classic. “This game remains the premier all star football game in the United States and it is very meaningful that these tremendous young men get one last chance to showcase their talents in front of the best high-school football fans in the nation.”

Proceeds from the Ohio North-South Classic benefit the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association’s Scholarship Program.

Ohio All-Star Classic players and coaches will arrive in Dayton on Thursday, April 24 and practice that day and on Friday, April 25. All practices are held in Welcome Stadium and are open to the media.
