Bucknuts & JJHuddle Ohio HS Weekly Spring Awards

This spring we are pleased to announce that JJHuddle and Bucknuts have partnered together to award weekly player and team of the week honors in baseball, softball, girls track, boys track, boys tennis, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse.

Each week during the spring sports seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Team and Player of the Week in each sport. Each weekly winner will receive an award from JJHuddle and Bucknuts.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in each sports JJHuddle Forum each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday, after which the winners will be announced.

WEEK 2 BOYS TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

*Zach Robbins, West Branch (Vote)

Broke the school record in the high jump with a leap of 6-6 during a dual meet with Canton South. Cleared 6-6 again days later to win Salem’s F.E. Cope Invite.

*Maurice Harris, Toledo St. Francis (Vote)

Senior won the discus and shot put at Whitmer’s Gold W Invitational with heaves of 175-10 and 57-5. Earlier this year, harris recorded the state’s top discus throw to-date with a toss of 179-10.

*Manny Durden, Springfield-Holland (Vote)

Recorded the state’s top high jump mark to-date and won Whitmer’s Gold W Invitational by clearing 6-7.

*Eric Fox, Cambridge (Vote)

Cleared 15-6 in the pole vault during a dual-meet with John Glenn to record the state’s top vault to date this spring.

*Logan Bryer, Genoa (Vote)

Senior threw the shot put 56-8 and the discus 175-8 at a tri-meet with Woodmore and Lakota.

*Nick Demaline, Liberty Center (Vote)

Senior threw the shot put 62-3.5 at a quad meet with Archbold, Evergreen and Swanton.

*Wes Martin, Milton-Union (Vote)

Senior and Indiana football recruit won two titles in the shot put on the same night. Martin won the Miami East Invite with a toss of 50-6.75 and then drove five miles to Troy and won the Trojans’ Herb Hartman Invite with a toss of 51-4.

*Ren Boehler, Shane Boehler, Austin Ball and Tyler Long, Tiffin Calvert (Vote)

Quartet set meet records at the Lakota Invitational in the 400 (43.65) and 800 (1:32.86) relays. Boehler also won the 300 hurdles (43.92).

*Nick Gray, Pickerington North (Vote)

Junior recorded the state’s top times in the 200 (21.93) and 400 (48.72) at the Stingel Invitational. Already held the state’s fest time in the 100 (10.71).

WEEK 2 BOYS TRACK & FIELD TEAM OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

*Wyoming (Vote)

The Cowboys won the 14-team Madeira Invitational by outscoring second place Madeira 96-61.

*Mason (Vote)

The Comets beat second place St. Xavier 105-72 en route to winning the 25-team Coaches Classic at Winton Woods.

*Tri-Valley (Vote)

Led by senior Collin Prouty – who won the discus with a stadium and meet record heave of 165-11 and the shot put – the Scotties bested the 16-team field at St. Clairsville’s Dave Porterfield Invitational. TV had 129 points, while runner-up Thornville Sheridan had 91. Of note, TV’s Kaleb Davis also set a meet and stadium record in the wheelchair shot out (16-5.5).

*Minster (Vote)

The Wildcats won the 12-team Anna Invitational by scoring 162 points to runner-up Anna’s 93.

*University School (Vote)

The Preppers won the 17-team Beachwood Invitational by outscoring second place Shaker Heights 151-89.

*Solon (Vote)

The Comets won the 11-team Medina relays with a 129-79 victory over runner-up Medina.

*Wadsworth (Vote)

Grizzlies won the 15-team Lexington Invitational by outscoring runner-up Pemberville Eastwood 105.5-96.5.
