Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio Girls BKB Player of the Year

Winner: Sydney Brackemyre, Clinton-Massie

Senior rebounded from an ACL injury that ended her junior season prematurely to excel as a senior. Headed to Louisville, Brackemyre surpassed 1,000-career points with 23 in a win over Waterford at the Pickerington Shootout. Called the best D-II player in Ohio by the Dabbelt Report and named one of Ohio’s Top 25 seniors by the OGBR. Averaged 15 points and eight rebounds. Named second team OGBR JJHuddle All-Ohio. Votes: 30,144

Runner-Up: Jenna Burdette, Reedsville Eastern

University of Dayton recruit became the school’s all-time leading scorer (male or female) when she broke the 40-year old record set by Dennis Eichenger with 23 points in a 70-38 win over Olentangy Liberty at the Pickerington Prep Shoot Out. Burdette, a four-time first team AP D-IV All-Ohioan, tied a D-IV state semifinal record wiht 38 points in a win over Fort Loramie. She scored 37 in the regional finals and 24 in the state final (which Eastern won). Named one of Ohio’s Top 25 seniors by the OGBR and honorable mention OGBR JJHuddle All-Ohio. Votes: 25,928

Third Place: Laina Snyder, West Holmes

One of the state’s top post players ever, senior owns the West Holmes career rebounding record (1,066 and counting) and owns single-game rebounding records at two of Ohio’s most prestigious events – the Classic in the Country (24) and the OHSAA D-II state finals (19). Snyder surpassed 1,000 career points as a junior. Headed to Ashland. Named one of Ohio’s Top 25 seniors by the OGBR and first team OGBR JJHuddle All-Ohio. Votes: 13,888

Fourth Place: Kristen Confroy, Solon

Senior was four-time All-NOC selection and two-time NOC player of the Year. Entered senior season averaging 17.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.3 steals per game. Recorded a triple-double (12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals) in a win over Hudson earlier this year. Headed to Maryland. Named one of Ohio’s Top 25 seniors by the OGBR and second team OGBR JJHuddle All-Ohio. Votes: 11,819

Fifth Place: Haley Horstman, New Knoxville

Senior became the second player ever to earn Player of the Year honors three times in the Midwest Athletic Conference. The other was Ohio State great Maria Moeller of Marion Local from 2004-06. Horstman is a four-time first team All-MAC selection who became the school’s all-time leading scorer on Feb. 6 against Fort Recovery when she scored her 1,179th point. She averaged 9.6 points as a freshman, 11.5 as a sophomore, 16.7 as a junior and 15.5 as a senior. Headed to Findlay. Votes: 9,803
