Ohio National Guard JJH Ohio Girls BKB Team of the Year

Winner: Bradford

The Lady Railroaders didn’t win a state, regional and even district title, but they played for the latter making this the best season in the school’s history. Bradford won a program record 20 games and won the program’s first ever Sectional title with a 60-57 win over South Charleston Southeastern that lasted four OTs. The Lady Railroaders, who lost to defending state champion and eventual state semifinalist Fort Loramie in the district final, were named the ONG JJH Team of the Week in Week 9. Votes: 12,266

Runner-Up: Reedsville Eastern

The Eagles finished the season undefeated against Ohio competition and with the first state title in school history. Eastern beat Zanesville Rosecrans 49-38 in the D-IV final. The Eagles also finished the season ranked No. 1 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll and AP State Poll. Eastern’s lone loss? 70-68 in OT to West Virginia small school No. 1 St. Joseph Central (Huntington, WV). Votes: 8,821

Third Place: West Holmes

The Knights, No. 1 in both the final AP D-II state poll and OGBR D-II National Guard JJH Power Poll, won the program’s fourth state title and first since 1986 with a convincing 62-45 win over Kettering Alter in the D-II final. West Holmes was the only girls team in Ohio in any division to finish unbeaten (29-0). The Knights were the ONG JJH Team of the Week in Week 7. Votes: 4,244
