Ohio National Guard JJH Girls BKB Team of the Year Award
JJHuddle is proud to announce that the Ohio National Guard will again sponsor ONG JJHuddle Player and Team of the Year awards in Boys and Girls Basketball for the 2013-2014 school year.
Starting today we will begin voting for the Girls Basketball Team of the Year Award. The Winner will be decided by a fan-generated vote on JJHuddle. Each winner will receive an award (trophy) from the National Guard.

The Fliers won their fourth straight Sandusky Bay Conference title and had three players earn first team District 6 honors (Breanne Michael, Kelsey Michaels and Amanda Cahill, POY). Heading into the postseason, Clyde is 96-5 in it last 101 games dating back to the start of the 2010-11 season. The Fliers finished ranked No. 3 in the final OGBR D-II National Guard JJH Power Poll.
*North Canton Hoover (Vote)
Ranked No. 1 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll, the Vikings appear to be a team of destiny. NCH features THREE seniors that have surpassed 1,000 career points in Kaylee Stroemple, Marquia Turner and Julie Worley. The Vikings went 12-0 in the Federal League. They have not lost to an Ohio opponent this season.
*West Holmes (Vote)
The Knights are 50-2 in their last 52 games, including 22-0 in this year’s regular season. West Holmes finished No. 1 in both the final AP D-II state poll and OGBR D-II National Guard JJH Power Poll. Was named the ONG JJH Team of the Week in Week 7.
The Fighting Eagles won the first girls basketball league title in school history and they did it convincingly. Eaton went 12-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwest Division and unseated defending champion Bellbrook, which had won 12 of the previous 13 league titles. Eaton is coached by veteran Gary Peffley, who led the New Lebanon Dixie boys team to a runner-up finish in the 1980 Class AA state tournament. Was named the ONG JJH Team of the Week in Week 3.
The Knights completed just the second undefeated regular season in school history with a 68-39 win over Thurgood Marshall to finish 22-0. The other undefeated team? Alter’s 1979-80 squad, which featured a senior point guard named Chris Hart. Hart is now the Knights’ head coach. Ranked No. 2 in both the final D-II AP and OGBR National Guard JJH State Polls.
The Firebirds won a share of their sixth straight GWOC Central Division title and finished ranked No. 2 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll. Fairmont has won four straight regional titles and is looking to defend its D-I state championship.
The Vikings won their 8th GMC title in 12 years and won it outright thanks to a 63-52 victory over then-undefeated and AP No. 1 Mason. The Vikings finished ranked No. 3 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll.
The Falcons became the first girls basketball team in Clinton County history to finish its regular season undefeated with victories over Greeneview (59-56) and Meadowdale (71-21). The win over the Rams snapped their 16-game win streak. The 1953-54 Wilmington High School boys basketball team is the only other varsity basketball team in Clinton County history to finish unbeaten in the regular season. Ranked No. 4 in the final OGBR D-II National Guard JJH Power Poll, the Falcons also won the final Clinton County Tournament title with a 58-19 win over Blanchester at Wilmington College.
*Reedsville Eastern (Vote)
The Eagles are undefeated against Ohio competition. Their lone loss? 70-68 in OT to West Virginia small school No. 1 St. Joseph Central (Huntington, WV). Ranked No. 1 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll and AP State Poll.
The Elks have tied Fairmont for the GWOC Central Division title the last two years. Centerville is poised to win the championship outright next year…but before that happens, the Elks might win a D-I state title. Ranked No. 4 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll, Centerville split its regular season meetings with Fairmont (1-1). Junior Shannon Coffee adds a different dimension.
The Grizzlies continue to terrorize the Suburban League. Wadsworth stretched its league win streak to 61 games and captured its 21st league title in the last 23 seasons. Ranked No. 8 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll.
The Comets beat then-undefeated and AP No. 1 ranked Wadsworth (55-47) on the road on Feb. 7. Considered Cleveland’s top team. Ranked No. 5 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll.
*Kenton Ridge (Vote)
Cougars won their first Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Division title with a sparkling 12-0 record. KR’s only loss this season is 51-46 at Westerville South in December. Since then they’re riding a 16-game winning streak. Ranked No. 8 in the final OGBR D-II National Guard JJH Power Poll. Was named the ONG JJH Team of the Week in Week 2.
Comets spent majority of season ranked No. 1 in Ohio in the AP State Poll. Have won 43-of last 46 games entering the postseason. Ranked No. 6 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll.
The Raiders won their fourth straight OCC Ohio Division title and are looking for their fifth straight D-I district title. Reynoldsburg was regional champs in 2010 and 2012. Ranked No. 10 in the final OGBR D-I National Guard JJH Power Poll.
The Railroaders are enjoying the best season in school history and have won a record 18 games this season following a 60-29 win over Springfield Central Catholic in the D-IV sectional. Was named the ONG JJH Team of the Week in Week 9.
The Blue Streaks won their fourth straight NWOAL title with an unblemished 8-0 record. In fact, the last time Archbold lost a NWOAL game was Dec. 10, 2010 against Evergreen. Ranked No. 3 in the final OGBR D-III National Guard JJH Power Poll.
