Ohio National Guard JJH Player of the Week

JJHuddle is proud to announce that the Ohio National Guard will again sponsor the ONG JJHuddle Player and Team of the Week awards in Football and Basketball during the 2013-2014 school year.

Each week during the football, boys basketball and girls basketball regular seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Ohio National Guard Ohio Team and Player of the Week. Each weekly winner will receive an award (a banner) from the National Guard.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted/stuck in the JJHuddle Basketball Forums each week. Fans will then nominate top performances. We will announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on JJHuddle every Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Friday (1/3), after which the winners will be announced.

Week 5 Nominees: Vote Now

Alter: The Knights remained undefeated with double-digit wins over a trio of former state champions: Cincinnati Mt. Notre Dame (43-31), Beavercreek (70-52) and Chaminade-Julienne (71-40).

Fayetteville-Perry: The Rockets remained unbeaten (9-0) with wins over Eastern Brown (59-18) and Western Brown (54-41).

Clinton-Massie: The Falcons remained unbeaten and won the Clinton County Tournament title with a 58-19 win over Blanchester at Wilmington College. Massie led 32-1 at halftime. In the semifinals the Falcons handed previously unbeaten Wilmington its first loss, 36-35.

Athens: The Bulldogs traveled to Orlando over the break and captured the Pink Bracket championship of the KSA Events Holiday Tournament. Athens remained unbeaten by beating St. Dominic (NY) 52-26, state ranked Pisgah (Ala.) 67-55 and Hamden Hall (Conn.) 57-38.

Fairmont: The Firebirds extended their win streak to 11 with double-digit wins over Southfield, Mich. (50-26); Detroit MLK  (48-36) and Beavercreek (59-38).

Granville: The Blue Aces beat previously unbeaten Newark Catholic, the state’s No. 1 ranked D-IV team, 33-29. The loss snapped a 25-game regular season win streak and 28-game league win streaking for NC.

West Holmes: The Lady Knights remained unbeaten with convincing 30-point plus holiday wins over Mansfield Madison (74-38), Zanesville (74-44) and Mansfield Senior (83-30).

Stow-Munroe Falls: The Bulldogs remained unbeaten and won the championship of the Davis Eye Center Holiday Classic with wins over Firestone (48-41) and Nordonia (50-37). Stow also beat Hudson 55-39.

Marion Local: The Flyers remained unbeaten by wining the TSC Holiday Tournament with a 54-48 double-OT win over host Wapakoneta. Marion beat Cory-Rawson in the semifinals.
