The Week 3 competition for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio HS Boys Basketball Team and Player Of the Week is over. And it was a good one. Over 22,000 votes were cast and this week’s winners are…

ONG JJH Ohio Boys BKB Player of the Week

Week 3 Winner: Tyler Flanigan, Glen Este

Senior guard followed up a 34-point performance in a win over New Richmond, with 41 points in a win over Loveland. Flanigan hit seven 3s against NR and three against Loveland.

Week 3 Runner-Up: Jarron Cumberland, Wilmington

Sophomore had 48 points, 30 rebounds, 11 assists, seven steals and six blocks in wins over Trenton Edgewood and Harrison and a loss to Trotwood-Madison.

Week 1: Trey Smith, Delphos Jefferson
Week 2: Luke Kennard, Franklin

ONG JJH Ohio Boys BKB Team of the Week

Week 3 Winner: Piqua

The Indians improved to 4-1 with road wins at Stebbins (64-55) and Sidney (77-65). Why is that big? Last year Piqua finished 7-16 and didn’t win their fourth game until after New Year’s Day. From 2009-12, the Indians went 9-75.

Week 3 Runner-Up: Black River

A night after losing by 48 points, the Pirates snapped a 49-game losing streak with a 51-44 win over Mapleton. Black River’s last win – 54-28 over Open Door on Dec. 2, 2011 – came two years, 19 days and four coaches ago. During the streak the Pirates had lost by an average of 28.8 points.
