Kettering Fairmont wins National Guard Ohio Girls Basketball Team of the Year Award

Ohio National Guard Basketball Player & Team of the Week Awards

You voted, you decided…who turned in Ohio’s best performance this Year? According to the 20,000-plus votes it was Kettering Fairmont. The Firebirds won the 2013 Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio Girls Basketball Team of the Year Award after netting over 8,000 votes in the three week long competition.


The voting has concluded for the first annual Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio HS Girls Basketball Team Of the Year and the winner is…Kettering Fairmont. During the regular season, over 200,000 votes were cast in the weekly competitions. During the three week long POY voting window, Fairmont collected over 8,000 votes.

Kettering Fairmont

The Firebirds earned Week 4 TOW honors after remaining unbeaten and handing
rival Centerville its first loss with a 69-62 win. The victory was
Fairmont’s 11th straight over the Elks. The Firebirds owned the glass
(45 rebounds) and hit 33-of-41 free throws. Fairmont ended the regualr
season 20-1 and was co-champ of the Gretaer Western Ohio Conference
Central Division title (with Centerville). Since then the Firebirds have added their first state title. Fairmont beat Twinsburg in the D-I final. It was the teams’ third straight meeting in the championship game and Fairmont’s first title in four trips to state.

The 2013 Top 3:

1. Kettering Fairmont: 8,251 votes

2. Bellbrook: 7,231 votes

3. Eaton: 6,161 votes
