The Week 2 competition for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio HS Girls Basketball Team and Player Of the Week is over. And it was a good one. Over 40,000 votes were cast and this week’s winners are…

ONG JJH Ohio Girls BKB Player of the Week

Week 2 Winner: Tracy Wiehe, Taylor

Sophomore post grabbed 31 rebounds in a 42-33 win over Northwest. The 31 rebounds ranks tied for ninth all-time in state history. Wiehe had 19 offensive rebounds. She also had eight points and seven blocks in the game. Through five games, Wiehe is averaging 17.8 rebounds per game.

Week 2 Runner-Up: Alexus Rockwell, Dayton Belmont

Senior continues to start season at torrid pace. Days after passing 1,000-career points, Rockwell scored 24 in a loss to Yellow Springs to become her school’s all-time leading scorer and break the previous mark of 1,032. Through seven games, Rockwell was averaging 22 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She also signed with Huntington (Ind.) University last week.

ONG JJH Ohio Girls BKB Team of the Week

Week 2 Winner: Kenton Ridge

The Cougars won three games last week (over Wayne, Springfield Northwestern and Bellefontaine) to improve to 6-0. Heading into this week the Cougars average margin of victory is 33.8 points per game. KR has also beaten D-I teams Northmont and Tecumseh.

Week 2 Runner-Up: West Holmes

The Lady Knights beat neighborhood rival Berlin Hiland 58-38 in a match up of Holmes County girls basketball powers. WH used a 17-7 third quarter run to separate itself. Earlier in the week the Lady Knights beat Orrville 60-25. The Red Riders had more turnovers (29) than points.
