Region 3 Preview

Team To Beat

*Glenville (8-2): The Tarblooders are one of the favorites for the D-II state title and own four JJHuddle Top 100 senior prospects
in OL Marcelys Jones (6-5, 325), DB Erik Simpson (6-0, 185), DB Erick
Smith (6-0, 178) and WR/DB Marshon Lattimore (6-0, 175). Jones is
committed to Ohio State, while Lattimore has offers from Ohio State,
Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, USC and Tennessee among others. Smith also
owns an Ohio State offer (along with Alabama) and Simpson owns several
MAC offers. Senior QB Quan Robinson (6-2, 167) holds an offer from Kent State…MORE

Teams To Watch

*Bedford (5-5): The Bearcats feature two JJHudle Top 100 Prospects
in DL Jonathan Cunningham (6-1, 220/Kent State commit) and LB Antoine
Stone (5-10, 185/Western Michigan commit)…MORE

*Boardman (4-6): The Spartans have an offensive weapon in senior
slot Turel Thompson (5-9, 150) who had 1,226 all-purpose yards and
scored 25 TDs, including 19 on the ground, last season…MORE

*Kent Roosevelt (10-2, Region 5 semifinalist): The Rough Riders seniors have the chance to be the first class in school history to play in four postseasons. Veteran head coach
John Nemec (222-101-3 career record) has things rolling as he enters is
29th season at Roosevelt. The concern on offense is replacing D-I recruits
at QB and WR, but this team’s strength will be defense where nine
starters, including seven with a 3.5 gpa or higher, return. The leader
of the unit is senior LB Matt Sommers (6-2, 225) who has committed to Kent State. Other key returners are…MORE

*Lyndhurst Brush (7-3): The Arcs, under second-year head coach Josh Wells, are looking for the program’s first ever run of three straight Northeast Ohio Conference
Lake Division titles. There’s reason for optimism. “We have the
potential to have one of the best offensive lines that Brush has had in
recent history,” Wells said. “Our team speed at the skill positions
has increased, which we will look to take advantage of on both sides of
the ball. Returning an experienced offensive line, and skilled position
is something the football program has not had in a long time.” Key
contributors are…MORE

Keep An Eye On

*Brecksville-Broadview Heights (5-5): Senior
WR Timmy Tupa (6-1, 185) is one of the state’s best and holds offers
from Penn, Colgate and Notre Dame of Ohio. Tupa caught 69 passes for
1,071 yards and 11 TDs as a junior…MORE

*Madison (6-4): Senior DB Bo Ransom (5-9, 175) returns after recording 97 tackles, three INTs and two fumble recoveries.

*Maple Heights (4-6): The Mustangs will rely on the senior trio of WR Cliff Garner (6-4, 180), OL Antonio Weatherspoon (6-2, 265) and LB Ronald Smith (6-0, 215).

*Mayfield (6-5, Region 1 quarterfinalist): The Wildcats have holes to fill but senior OL David Khanin (6-2, 280) is a good piece to build around.

*North Olmsted (7-3): The Eagles return some standout lineman in seniors Jeff Rotheram (6-6, 290/Tiffin and Lake Erie offers), Beau Bilinsky (6-3, 27) and Andrew Bukala (6-3, 270)…MORE

*Painesville Riverside (7-3): The Beavers will lean on senior QB Maxx Brubaker (6-4, 180) who threw for over 1,500 yards last year.

*Westlake (9-2, Region 6 quarterfinalist): The Demons earned the program’s first playoff berth since 1989 last season. Head coach Mark Campo (22-19 in four years) welcomes back seniors…MORE

*Willoughby South (10-1, Region 1 quarterfinalist): The Rebels
are coming off back-to-back playoff berths but have a ton of holes to
fill, including the big one at RB that Kareem Hunt (Toledo) left.
