The Tigers had a remarkable season in 2012. They beat D-IV state
champion Akron SVSM, Steubenville and rival Canton McKinley twice,
knocking the Bulldogs out of the playoffs in Week 12. Massillon fell to
Whitmer in the regional final. There are holes to fill, but the Tigers
have a solid nucleus intact. Expectations are high and they should be.
The Tigers possess three JJHuddle 2014 Top 100 prospects.

Team To Beat


*Massillon Washington (11-2, Region 2 finalist): The Tigers had a remarkable season in 2012. They beat D-IV state champion Akron SVSM, Steubenville and rival Canton McKinley twice, knocking the Bulldogs out of the playoffs in Week 12. Massillon fell to Whitmer in the regional final. There are holes to fill, but the Tigers have a solid nucleus intact. Expectations are high and they should be. The Tigers possess three JJHuddle 2014 Top 100 prospects in WR/DB Marcus Whitfield (No. 71), OL Nathaniel Devers (No. 85) and TE Beau Huffman (No. 99). Whitfield (6-0, 170) is a dynamic player who caught 32 passes for 642 yards and five TDs and returned 10 punts for 146 yards and a TD last year. Huffman (6-3, 212) caught 11 passes for 170 yards and three TDs last year.  Devers (6-5, 275) committed to Cincinnati over offers from from Toledo, Akron, Bowling Green, Ohio, Buffalo, Indiana, Connecticut and Marshall. Other key returners are: OL/DL Devin Williams (6’2″, 255, jr.), DL/TE Leslie Dudley (6′, 225, sr.), LB Danny Robinson (5’11”, 215, jr.), P/K Andrew David (5’9″, 170, jr./Michigan commit), RB/DL JD Crabtree (5’10”, 205, jr.), OL Chase Lash (6’5″, 298, jr.), RB/DB Mike Smith (5’9″, 175, jr.) and LB Devon Ingram (5’10”, 205, sr.). Keep an eye on junior DB Reggie Rogers (6-1, 175), a transfer from Akron Firetsone. Head coach Jason Hall is two wins shy of reaching 50 at Massillon. “Our offseason has been one of the best since I have been here,” Hall said. “Our team speed will be an asset to us again this season. We return a veteran offensive line and skill position players.” The schedule includes Akron SVSM, Steubenville, Warren Harding, Mentor Lake Catholic, Fitch and as always – McKinley (in Week 10).
