*Clinton-Massie (15-0, D-IV state champions): The Falcons had a historic season last year. In addition to winning the program’s first state championship in its first state final, Massie became the first Ohio school in history to score over 800 points. They finished with 822. The Falcons, who lost in the 2011 state semifinals (to Kenton), are looking to earn their 12th straight playoff berth. Senior RB Bayle Wolf (6-1, 200) returns after rushing for 2,059 yards and 41 TDs last season. He ran for 1,390 yards and 31 TDs as a sophomore. In last year’s state final, Wolf tied D-IV finals records for points (30) and TDs (five). He ran for 220 yards. Other key returnees are RB/LB Kelson Gaudon (6-1/200/sr.), TE/DE Austion Flohea (6-1/220/sr.), OL/DL A.J. “The ability to develop at the QB position will be key,” head coach Dan McSurely (168-66 in 17 years) said. “Our O-Line is big and athletic. The defense is fast.”
The schedule, which McSurely says is the “toughest schedule we’ve had in the history of the program,” includes new non-league games with Columbus DeSales and Chillicothe.
Jonathan Alder (0-0)
Columbus St Francis DeSales (0-0)
