Michigan State is sitting pretty for Toledo Central Catholic four-star quarterback DeShone Kizer, who was back in East Lansing this past Sunday for the Spartans junior day.
“Out of the schools who have offered me, Michigan State is in my top three along with Nebraska and Louisville,” Kizer said.
The 6-foot-5, 207-pound Kizer took this trip to Michigan State
with his parents. They toured the campus, sat down with the coaches and
enjoyed the basketball game.
“Once again the coaching staff impressed me a lot,” Kizer said.
“I go to talk with Coach (Mark) Dantonio face-to-face for the first time
with the family since the offer. He laid it out there that two
quarterbacks in my class and an athlete who could be a quarterback have
been offered. He said that I’m high on their list and we talked about
how I felt about Michigan State and it was a good time.”
Ranked by the 247Composite as the nation’s No. 6 dual-threat
quarterback, Kizer visited Michigan State twice during the fall, and he
keeps in regular contact with assistants Mike Tressel and Dave Warner.
“This visit was kind of the time my parents could come up and
talk straight to them instead of through me,” Kizer said, adding his
parents liked everything that they heard. “It went really well.”
Kizer says he’ll visit Louisville sometime soon and Nebraska in
the summer. Other programs to offer includes Penn State, Boston College,
Illinois, Kentucky and Syracuse.
