JJHuddle is proud to continue a new partnership with the Ohio
National Guard that will impact Ohio High School Football and
Basketball positively during the 2012-2013 school year. Here’s how…

Each week during the football, boys basketball and girls basketball regular seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Ohio National Guard Ohio Player and Team of the Week. Each weekly winner will receive an award from the National Guard at their school. At the end of the year, the weekly winners will be entered into a competition for the Player and Team of the Year.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted in the respective JJHuddle Sport
Forums on Thursday. Fans will then nominate top performances/players. We
will announce the 10 weekly finalists on JJHuddle on Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum.
Voting will cease at noon on Thursday, after which the winners will be
announced. We will do weekly awards throughout the regular season.
Year-end award voting will take place during the postseason.

National Guard JJH Player & Team of the Week

Girls Basketball

Winners will receive a trophy and a banner suitable for hanging in their gyms at an in-school presentation by the Ohio National Guard.

Player of the Week: Jan. 10

WINNER: Jess Ledger, Harrison Central
Junior G hit seven 3s – all in the second half – in a win over Weir (WV). Earlier this season Ledger hit a school-record eight 3s in a win over Indian Creek.

RUNNER-UP: Sarah Reilly, Cincinnati Ursuline
Junior F ran her double-double streak to three in wins over Lakota East
and Seton. Against LE, Reilly had 20 points and 18 rebounds. She had 24
and 14, respectively, against Seton. .

Team of the Week: Jan. 10

WINNER: Bellbrook
The Golden Eagles added four catholic schools to their schedule this season and beat two of them in succession over break – Toledo Central Catholic and Cincinnati St. Ursula.

RUNNER-UP: Centerville
The Elks bounced back from their first loss of the season (to Fairmont) to win the Pickerington North Holiday Tournament. In addition to beating Olentangy and host Pickerington North (in the final),
Centerville beat nationally ranked Seton LaSalle Catholic (Pittsburgh)
66-63. The loss snapped SLC’s 37-game win streak. SLC entered the game
ranked No. 16 in the country by MaxPreps.

Boys Basketball

Player of the Week: Jan. 10

WINNER: Eric Cellier, Toledo Christian
Junior G had a near perfect night shooting in a 57-44 win over
Ottawa Hills. Cellier was 7-of-8 from the floor (3-of-3 from 3) and
9-of-9 from the free throw line for 26 points. He also had five
rebounds, five steals and three assists. In a win over Van Buren, Cellier had 24 points (9-of-11 from field, 5-of-7 from line) and four assists.

RUNNER-UP: Jordan Tomlinson, Buckeye Valley
Had three games of 30-plus over the break. Tomlinson scored 38 of his
team’s 48 points in a 48-39 win over Mt. Gilead. Followed that by
scoring 35 points in a 49-46 win over Whitehall-Yearling. Also scored 33
in a 75-61 loss to Olentangy. During the three-game stretch, Tomlinson
made 27 free throws.

Team of the Week: Jan. 10

WINNER: Hannibal River
The Pilots have hit 37 3s in their last three games. They hit 15 in a
loss to Athens, 15 in a win over Magnolia (WV) and seven in a win over
Shenandoah.

RUNNER-UP: Versailles
The Tigers won their own Holiday Tournament with a 54-46 victory over previously unbeaten Miami East in the final.
