JJHuddle is proud to continue a new partnership with the Ohio
National Guard that will impact Ohio High School Football and
Basketball positively during the 2012-2013 school year. Here’s how…

Each week during the football, boys basketball and girls basketball regular seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Ohio National Guard Ohio Player and Team of the Week. Each weekly winner will receive an award from the National Guard at their school. At the end of the year, the weekly winners will be entered into a competition for the Player and Team of the Year.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted in the respective JJHuddle Sport
Forums on Thursday. Fans will then nominate top performances/players. We
will announce the 10 weekly finalists on JJHuddle on Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum.
Voting will cease at noon on Thursday, after which the winners will be
announced. We will do weekly awards throughout the regular season.
Year-end award voting will take place during the postseason.

National Guard JJH Player & Team of the Week

Girls Basketball

Winners will receive a trophy and a banner suitable for hanging in their gyms at an in-school presentation by the Ohio National Guard.

Player of the Week: Jan. 3

WINNER: Lindsey Mayle, Geneva
Freshman G scored 41 points in two games. Mayle had 19 points (three
3s), four steals and two blocks in a win over Willoughby South and 22
points (four 3s) in a win over Lakeside. Mayle leads the Premier
Athletic Conference in scoring and free-throw shooting percentage (87%) and is second in 3s made.

RUNNER-UP: Kathryn Westbeld, Kettering Fairmont
Junior forward had 26 points and 21 rebounds in a 69-62 win over
previously unbeaten Centerville. Westbeld hit 13-of-16 free throws and
had three blocks and three assists. She leads the GWOC in field goal percentage (69.2) having hit 45-of-65 shots.

Team of the Week: Jan. 3

WINNER: Kettering Fairmont
The Firebirds remained unbeaten and handed rival Centerville its first loss with a 69-62 win. The victory was Fairmont’s 11th straight over the Elks. The Firebirds owned the glass (45 rebounds) and hit 33-of-41 free throws.

RUNNER-UP: Reynoldsburg
The Raiders remained unbeaten with a pair of key OCC Ohio wins over Gahanna and Pickerington North.

Player of the Week: Jan. 3

WINNER: Ryan Bush, Salem
Senior G scored a career-high 38 points in a 69-54 win over East Liverpool.

RUNNER-UP: Mark Donnal, Anthony Wayne
Senior F surpassed 1,000 career points with 21 in a win over Bryan. That
followed outings of 28 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Napoleon
and 29 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Southview.

Team of the Week: Jan. 3

WINNER: Columbus Watterson
The Eagles remained unbeaten with wins over Columbus Ready and previously unbeaten Bexley.

RUNNER-UP: Centerville & Tecumseh
After scoring just 17 points combined in the second and third quarters,Centerville  exploded for 22 in the fourth to rally for a 57-53 win over
previously unbeaten and archrival Wayne. The win snapped a six-game
losing streak to the Warriors. Austin Recker had 18 points and Jake
Replogle scored 16. Tecumseh won three road games to improve to 8-0. The Arrows won at Greenon, Stebbins and Greenville.
