Cleveland Glenville offensive lineman Marcelys Jones became Urban Meyer’s first 2014 Ohio State commitment on Christmas morning. He simply could not think of a reason not to become a Buckeye…what a present for Urban Meyer.

do, then do it,” Jones said. “Why not? Ohio State is one of the best
programs in the country. It’s close to home. They win championships. I
couldn’t think of a reason not to commit.”
With all of that in mind, Jones made a Christmas morning call to Meyer.
“I gave Urban Meyer a verbal commitment,” Jones said. “He was definitely excited. He told me it was a great Christmas gift.
“I wanted to be the first (2014) commitment. That was important to me.”
Jones attended a couple Ohio State games this season and plans to
be back in Columbus next month or a big junior day the weekend of Jan.
13 when the Ohio State basketball team hosts Michigan.
“Ohio State is home to a lot of Glenville kids,” Jones said. “
The 6-foot-5 and 325-pound Jones, who plays offensive tackle for
the Tarblooders. He could play either tackle or guard for the Buckeyes.
In addition to Ohio State, Jones also had scholarship offers from
Illinois and Indiana and was drawing interest from many others including
Michigan State, Iowa, Tennessee, Cincinnati and Louisville.
Jones is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the
country’s No. 92 class of 2014 prospect, the No. 7 offensive guard and
the No. 3 prospect in Ohio.
