AP Poll: 4
2012 Seed: #2 Region 6
2012 Regional Tournament: 7 Grafton Midview (W, 50-7); 6 Mansfield Madison (W, 45-7); 4 Avon (W, 42-14)
State Championships: 1 (05)
State Semifinal Appearance: 2nd (12, 05)

*Aurora (12-1)
Head Coach:
Bob Mihalik
Nickname: Greenmen
National Guard JJHuddle Power Poll: 4
AP Poll: 5
2012 Seed: #3 Region 5
2012 Regional Tournament: 6 New Philadelphia (W, 35-32); 2 Kent Roosevelt (W, 27-13); 4 Chardon (W, 34-14)
State Championships: 1 (08)
State Semifinal Appearance: 4th (12, 11, 08, 06)
All-Time Tournament Record: 16-8

Outlook: TCC spent a good chunk of the season at No. 1 in the National Guard JJHuddle Power Poll before a Week 10 loss to D-I state semifinalist Whitmer dropped them. Each week that blemish looks less important. The Irish have one of the state’s top offenses feuled by junior QB DSeShone Kizer (a top 2014 recruit nationally) and senior RB Amir Edwards. Aurora is in the state semifinals for the fourth time in seven years. Greenmen junior QB George Bollas is no slouch. Last week he ran for 250 yards and four TDs in Aurora’s win over Chardon. Bollas is a state wrestling qualifier. The Greenmen won the D-III state title in 2008 and despite bumping up to D-II last season have made the Final Four both years. During the season/playoffs Aurora has seen some dynamic offenses (Chagrin Falls, New Philadelphia, Kent Roosevelt), but TCC will be the best they’ve seen.

D-I Commits: TCC DB Jayme Thompson (Ohio State), TCC TE Keith Towbridge (Louisville), Aurora LB Zach Quinn (Toledo), Aurora LB Zach Smierciak (Miami Ohio)

Drew Pasteur Fantastic 50: TCC
Cal Preps Pick: TCC
Eric Frantz Pick: TCC

New Albany (11-2) vs Trotwood-Madison (11-2)

Location: Piqua Alexander Stadium (Friday, 7 p.m.)

*New Albany (11-2)
Head Coach:
Mark Mueller
Nickname: Eagles
National Guard JJHuddle Power Poll: 7
AP Poll: NR
2012 Seed: #4 Region 7
2012 Regional Tournament: 5 Columbus Beechcroft (W, 25-6); 1 Dresden Tri-Valley (W, 42-35); 3 Columbus Marion-Franklin (W, 32-30)
State Championships:
None
State Semifinal Appearance: 2nd (12, 06)
All-Time Tournament Record: 10-5

*Trotwood-Madison (11-2)
Head Coach:
Maurice Douglass
Nickname: Rams
National Guard JJHuddle Power Poll: 2
AP Poll: 9
2012 Seed: #6 Region 8
2012 Regional Tournament: 3 Cincinnati Mt. Healthy (W, 48-0); 2 Cincinnati Winton Woods (W, 27-20 OT); 1 Cincinnati Turpin (W, 42-14)
State Championships: 1 (11)
State Semifinal Appearance: 4th (12, 11, 10, 81)
All-Time Tournament Record: 17-6

Outlook: Of all the team’s left in the state tournament, none has more D-I commits on its roster than Trotwood. Take that for what it’s worth. The Rams opened the season with high expectations but fell to 1-2 after three weeks and had to win in Week 10 just to make the playoffs. That being said, Trotwood is one win away from it’s third straight D-II state final. The defending state champions are riding the running game of senior Isreal Green (1,512 yards/21 TDs) and junior Ashton Jackson (996 yards/19 TDs). Green needs 488 yards to reach 2,000 for the third straight season. Freshman QB Messiah DeWeaver has delivered (10 TDs/2 INTs) in six starts. New Albany counters with the most dynamic player on the field – senior Darron Lee. A QB/DB who is headed to Ohio State, Lee returned a punt for a TD, threw two TDs passes, ran for a TD and had an interception in the closing minute of last week’s 32-30 win over Marion-Franklin. New Albany’s defense produced 10 sacks against Marion-Franklin. Getting similar pressure on DeWeaver is key. The Eagles are in the Final four for the second time and first since 2006 (made it in D-III).  NA senior RB Alan Watson is a hammer.

D-I Commits: Trotwood-Madison DB Cameron Burrows (Ohio State), Trotwood-Madison DL Jarod Clements (Illinois), Trotowood-Madison OL Cody Collins (Marshall), Trotwood-Madison DB Reon Dawson (Illinois), Trotwood-Madison LB Michael McCray (Michigan), New Albany ATH Darron Lee (Ohio State)

Drew Pasteur Fantastic 50: Trotwood
Cal Preps Pick: Trotwood
Eric Frantz Pick: Trotwood
