BIGGEST SURPRISE IN WEEK 2
Mentor completes historic comeback: If the Cardinals go on to advance to their third state final in seven years, their comeback against St. Edward will be looked at as a major catalyst. Down 56-35 with 5:44 left in the third quarter, Mentor rallied to beat the Eagles 63-56. Mentor racked up 726 total yards and was led by Mr. Football candidate Mitch Trubiksy who threw for 478 yards and four TDs and ran for 98 yards and two TDs on 25 carries. Trubisky completed 36-of-48 passes and didn’t throw an interception. WR Brandon Fritts caught 14 passes for 243 yards and all four Mentor TDs. St. Edward had 540 yards of offense itself.
BIGGEST SURPRISE TEAM LEFT
Hilliard Davidson: Hard to label a two-time sate champion a big surprise, but Davidson fits the bill. The Wildcats started the season 2-2 and have since won eight straight. Followed up 17-14 first round win over Dublin Coffman with convincing 29-14 win over Olentangy in the regional semifinals.
BEST REGIONAL FINAL GAME
Mentor (11-1) vs. Cleveland St. Ignatius (11-1)
Fresh off a win over St. Edward, Mentor will try to take down Northeast Ohio’s other parochial giant. St. Ignatius spent the majority of the season ranked No. 1 in the state before falling to No. 2 after losing to St. Edward in Week 10. Mentor owes Iggy. The Cardinals lost 23-17 to the Wildcats in last year’s regional final and lost 48-21 in a Week 3 rematch this season. In Week 3, St. Ignatius racked up 527 yards of offense and led 31-7 at halftime. Mentor hasn’t lost since. With wins over St. Edward and St. Ignatius, it would be hard not to tab the Wildcats the new favorite in D-I (or give Trubiksy Mr. Football).
REGIONAL SEMIFINAL PICKS:
4 Mentor (11-1) vs. 2 Cleveland St. Ignatius (11-1) at Parma Byers Field: St. Ignatius.

4 Pickerington North (11-1) vs. 7 Hilliard Davidson (10-2) at Ohio Wesleyan University Selby Stadium: Pickerington North
