JJHuddle is proud to announce a new partnership with the Ohio
National Guard that will impact Ohio High School Football (and
Basketball) positively during the 2012-2013 school year. Here’s how…

Each week during the football, boys basketball and girls basketball regular seasons, we will hold a fan-generated contest on JJHuddle to tab a weekly Ohio National Guard Ohio Team of the Week. Each weekly winner will receive an award from the National Guard at their school. At the end of the year, the weekly winners will be entered into a competition for the Team of the Year.

How it works?
A thread soliciting nominations will be posted in the JJHuddle Football
Forums on Friday. Fans will then nominate top performances/players. We
will announce the 10 weekly finalists on JJHuddle at noon on Monday and voting will be conducted in a special JJHuddle forum. Voting will cease at noon on Thursday, after which the winner will be announced.

Week 8 Nominees

The Panthers beat Thornville Sheridan (34-14) or the first time since 1984 and moved closer to earning the program’s first-ever playoff berth. Maysville is 7-1.

The Cavaliers continued their dominating run by shutting out Marion Local 27-0. Coldwater, 8-0 overall, is 6-0 in the MAC and has allowed 26 total points in wins over Versailles, Delphos, St. John’s, Minster, St.Henry, Anna and Marion Local. On the season, Coldwater has allowed 48 points, with 22 coming in a Week 1 win over Kenton.

The Panthers moved one step closer to earning their first ever D-I playoff berth with a 49-26 win over Miamisburg. Springboro last went to the playoffs in 2005, but that was in D-II. The Panthers have never played in the D-I postseason, but with a win over either Xenia or Lebanon in Weeks 9 and 10, Boro will be postseason bound.

The Bulldogs dominated previously state-ranked Circleville 26-14. B-C led 21-0 in the second quarter and never looked back. RB Dalton VanAtta ran for two TDs and RB Zach Jude ran for 208 yards.

The Eagles outlasted archrival Columbus DeSales 24-21 in the first triple-OT game in the series’ 57-year history. Watterson trailed 7-0 in the fourth quarter before driving for the game-tying TD (a 2-yard run by Deandre Golden) with less than five minutes left. After scoring on a third-and-13 play to survive the second OT, Watterson picked up the win when Michael Harper hit a 22-yard field goal after a DeSales miss.

*Canal Winchester
The Indians had three different backs go over 100 yards rushing and score two TDs apiece in a 45-10 win over Logan Elm. Jaquan Ransome went for 158 yards on 10 carries, while John Franklin went for 134 and Edosa Omouyi 106 on eight and thtree carries, respectively. After a 1-2 start, the Indians have won five straight and positioned themselves for a D-II playoff berth and MSL-Cardinal title.

The Redmen rushed for nearly 500 yards and QB Jalen Santoro ran for six TDs and 325 yards as Bellevue beat previously unbeaten Norwalk 48-21.

*Fremont St. Joseph
The Crimson Streaks rallied to earn a playoff berth – just their second since 1997 – with a 16-14 win over Tiffin Calvert. St. Joe’s trailed late in the fourth before an interception by Alex Veleba set up a game-winning 33-yard field goal by Corey Durbin.

*St. Edward
The Eagles executed a fake punt from their own end zone in the final minute after stopping a St. X scoring drive at the 2-yardline and held off the Bombers for a 27-16 win. St. Edward scored off a blocked punt in the first half.

After going just 2-8 last year, Batavia remained unbeaten this season (8-0) with as 40-21 win over Bethtel-Tate. The Bulldogs are in line for their first playoff berth since 2003 and just their third in history.
