Central Ohio’s No. 1 HS Football Rankings continue today with the release of the Week 9 JJHuddle/NBC4 Central Ohio Power Poll. Here’s how things look after seven games…


The fourth annual JJHuddle/NBC4 Central Ohio Power Poll continues…

This year JJHuddle and NBC4 will again contest separate polls for
Divisions I, II, III and IV. Divisions V and VI will remained combined.

Central Ohio Power Polls: Week 9

DIVISON I

1. Pickerington North (8-0)
Result: Senior RB Godwin Igwebuike ran for two TDs and Kody Casey blocked two punts as the Panthers beat Groveport 35-7.

2. Dublin Coffman (8-0)
Result: RB Bilal Williamson ran for four TDs and QB James Walsh threw for two as the Rocks beat Westland 69-13. Coffman rolled up 545 yards of offense.

3. Hilliard Darby (8-0)
Result: QB Chase Longwell’s 1-yard TD run on fourth down completed the Panthers rally in a 28-24 win over Dublin Scioto. Darby trailed 17-7 at halftime. Senior RB Caleb Day ran for two TDs.

4. Pickerington Central (5-2)
Result: The Tigers had two backs over 200 yards each and held Newark to 22 total yards in a 35-6 win. Brent Walton ran for 203 yards and three TDs, while Tawuain Gordon ran for 226 yards and two TDs. Pick Central had 527 yards of offense.

5. Dublin Scioto (6-2)
Result: The Irish lost a 17-7 halftime lead and the game in a 28-24 loss to Hilliard Darby. Two fourth quarter turnovers led to 14 Darby points.

1.Tri-Valley (8-0)
Result: RB Austin Jones ran for 244 yards and two TDs and QB Nathan Strock threw for 214 yards and two TDs as the Scotties beat John Glenn 32-0.

2. New Albany (6-2)
Result: The Eagles ran for 346 yards and only allowed 127 total yards in a 17-6 win over Big Walnut. RB Alan Watson ran for 158 yards and a TD on 19 carries.

3. Zanesville (7-1)
Result: Junior RB JT McFarland scored five TDs and QB Thomas Wibbeler completed 25-of-29 passes (including 15 in a row) for 352 yards and three TDs as the Blue Devils beat previously unbeaten New Philadelphia 33-14.

4. Marion-Franklin (7-1)
Result: QB Joe Alverson accounted for five TDs and led the Red Devils to 436 yards of offense in a 53-14 win over Columbus West. Alverson threw for 192 yards and three TDs and ran for 134 yards and two scores.

5. Licking Heights (8-0)
Result: The Hornets rallied to sting West Jefferson 36-16. Down 10-7 after the first quarter and ahead just 14-10 entering the fourth, LH scored 22 points in the final 12 minutes to secure the huge win. WR/DB Douglas Bennifield caught a 27-yard TD pass and returned an interception 31 yards for a score.

1. Watterson (5-3)
Result: QB Andy Elberson ran fro two TDs and threw for another as the Eagles beat Columbus DeSales 24-21 in triple-OT. Michael Harper’s 22-yard field goal was the game-winner.

2. Granville (7-1)
Result: The Blue Aces had 406 yards of offense and held Hebron Lakewood to 119 in a 48-2 win. Senior QB David Fraley threw for three TDs and RB Josh Link ran for two.

3. DeSales (4-4)
Result: The Stallions held a 7-0 lead until the final five minutes of regulation and then fell 24-21 to Watterson in triple-OT.

Result: The Warriors racked up just 186 yards of offense in a 21-6 loss to Walnut Ridge 21-6.

Result: The Tigers fell flat against Bloom-Carroll in a 26-14 loss. B-C, which was 2-5 entering the game, led 21-0 in the second quarter and never looked back.

DIVISON IV

1. Hartley (8-0)
Result: The Hawks dominated host Ironton 62-6. Hartley had 594 yards of offense and had three backs – Sam Mackowiak (150), Ja’Wuan Woodley (115) and Marcellus Calhoun (106) –go over 100 yards and score two TDs apiece. The Hawks scored 35 points in the second quarter and led 49-6 at halftime.

Result: The Wildcats held Buckeye Valley to 149 yards of offense en route to a 35-0 shutout win. RB Kam Smith ran for 105 yards and three TDs as NU racked up 462 yards of offense.

3. Westfall (7-1)
Result: Senior QB Trent Williamson ran for four TDs and threw for another as the Mustangs beat Zane Trace 34-19.

Result: The Silver Knights allowed just 125 total yards in a 45-0 win over Montpelier. RB Akili Taylor ran for 135 yards and a TD, while RB Doug Stricker ran for 90 yards and two TDs.

Result: Johnnies scored the first TD but then fell behind 21-7 en route to a 42-35 loss to Danville. RB Cody Farley had 141 yards and three TDs on 30 carries, while QB Tyler Thompson ran for 193 yards and two TDs on 26 carries.
