Noteworthy News:
Norwayne is looking to capture its first ever back-to-back league titles and only the fourth ever in school history (1965, 2008, 2011). The Bobcats are also looking to make the playoffs for the third season in a row and only fourth time ever in school history (2008, 2010, 2011).

The schedule is the same as last season with the exception that the Wayne County Athletic League schedule rotates one spot with last year’s Week 4 now being Week 10 and everyone else in the league bumping forward one week accordingly. Norwayne opens the seaosn at Wellington and then hosts CVCA and Western reserve before WCAL play begins.

Coach’s Quotes:

“2011, which culminated in D-IV state title, was a very special season for us lead by a very special senior class of 13 players that will be hard to replace.”

“The unique skill sets we lost with some of our seniors from last year will force us to make some changes in how we do things, especially offensively.”

“Too early to tell how are 2012 team compares to last years 2011 squad in terms of overall talent, to the surprise of many if certain kids take next steps in their development potential exists to perhaps be better in overall team talent in 2012 compared 2011. However in 2012 we will not have the luxury of depth and experience we had in 2011 at least not early on in the season.”

“We have a strong core of returning players in 2012 who either started or saw extensive time as key backups on our 2011 state championship team. If they do the work and show the growth we expect them capable of then 2012 can also be a very special season in which we compete for a league title, playoff birth, and make a playoff run that maybe if things go right could culminate with another state title but a lot of work needs to be put in before any of those things happen.”
