Noteworthy News: Ross is in a new confernece in 2012. The defending FAVC SCarlett Division champs will now compete in the new Southwestern Ohio Conference (whose members are all D-II Region 8 Schools: Ross, Edgewood, Talawanda, Wilmington, Little Miami, Harrison, Northwest, Mt Healthy.)

Schedule: Said Butts: “I really like the new conference. It is full of rivalries and being an all D-II confernce should help multiple teams get in the playoffs in Region 8.” The Rams non-conference schedule is Goshen, Monroe and Zanesville. They also scrimmage D-I Loveland, D-II regional finalist Kings and D-I Glen Este. The middle of the schdule is very strong with Zanesville (6-4), Northwest (7-3/tied for FAVC title in 2011), Edgewood (biggest rival), Mt Healthy (8-2/tied for FAVC Title), Wilmington (7-3) and Harrison (7-3/DII playoffs and FAVC Buckeye Champion).

Coach’s Quotes: “We feel very good about the team we have comming back for 2012. We are trying to make it back-to-back league titles and be the first team in school history to go the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. We have built a strong fondation the last three years going to the playoffs and winning the FAVC Scarlet in 2009, finishing 7-3 in 2010 and 8-2 Scarlet Division Champs and Region 8 playoffs in 2011. Our goal is to win the first ever playoff game at Ross. We’ve been to the playoffs 6 times in school history.”

“We return most of our defense which is led by seniors Frank Heimkreiter, Gus Madden, Joseph Jones, Brandon Fernandez and Quinton Couch and juniors Drew Chase and Luke Hannon. Last year we led the FAVC in defense.

“On Offense we will be very big up front with two tight ends at 6’3.5 and 6′ 4 (Heimkreiter and Madden). At right tackle we have Peacock (6’6″ 285). The rest of the line is RG Tyler Bridwell (6’3.5 220), C Heath Coppenger (6’0″ 250) and LG Alex Scalia (6’3 270). At LT two sophomores are competing in Simon Stepaniak and Curtis New (6’3.5 250-260).”
