Michigan State is working ahead in Ohio this spring and one of the
prospects they have checked on is 2014 defensive end Joe Henderson
of Shaker Heights.

The
6-foot-4 and 220-pound Henderson was moved up to the varsity from the
junior varsity part-way through his sophomore season and made 32 tackles
for the varsity squad. His work is attracting the attention of many
coaches at BCS schools including the Michigan State staff.

“They’ve sent me some stuff about the Michigan State (football)
camps to come to,” Henderson said. “And I got a letter from them. They
came to my school a couple weeks ago too and a coach gave me his card.”

Henderson is planning to be in East Lansing for the first time next month.

“I’ll go to Michigan State’s camp in June,” he said. “Our trainer is going to drive me up there.”

Henderson is also hearing from Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin,
Illinois, Tennessee, Toledo and a few others. In addition to the
Spartans’ camp he will also camp at Ohio State next month.

Henderson is being recruited as a defensive end for now. However,
outside linebacker is also a possibility at the next level depending on
how much bigger Henderson gets in the next two years.
