OHIO HIGH SCHOOL INSIDER

*Welsh earning praise, more options: Springboro offensive lineman Sean Welsh continues to garner loads of interest from college recruiters and for good reason – he’s a load himself. The 6-3, 280 two-way standout picked up his tenth offer this week from Kentucky. He also has offers from Bowling Green, Ohio, Ball State, Toledo, Kent State, Miami of Ohio, Cincinnati, Indiana and Western Kentucky. Right now UC heads the list, but that doesn’t mean the Bearcats will win out.

Iowa was in last week and visited Welsh twice in the same day. Duke did the same. Other schools showing increasing interest are Northwestern, Miami (Fla.) and Air Force.

Ohio State is also in the picture. New OSU assistant Kerry Coombs recruited Welsh while he was at UC and since moving to Columbus has kept in contact. Ohio State however is filling its 2013 class quickly and may not have a spot left for Welsh although he’s “definitely on their board.”

According to Welsh’s family, he plans to announce his decision before the start of the high school season because “it’s getting crazy and he doesn’t want the distraction.”

Welsh plays left tackle at Boro but projects as a guard/center in college.
