The Michigan State staff is looking at a few punters from the state of Michigan. They are also looking at one from the state of Ohio. Findlay’s Joe Davidson was in East Lansing on Saturday for the Spartans’ spring game.

Davidson was in East Lansing on
Saturday for the Spartans’ spring game.
“They showed us the indoor facility, the weight room, the trophies, and then we walked over to the stadium.”
Davidson, who made the trip to East Lansing with his parents, spent some time talking to a couple of the Spartan coaches.
“I talked to coach (Mark) Dantonio a little, but mostly I talked
to coach (Mike) Tressel,” Davidson said. “He said he is really
interested in me. He likes my size. He said you don’t usually see a
6-foot-7 punter. And he likes my all-around athletic ability.”
Davidson punted, played wide receiver and some in the secondary during his junior season. He averaged 40 yards per punt.
“Michigan State is recruiting me as a punter,” Davidson said.
“Bowling Green and Akron are recruiting me as a wide receiver and
Davidson is hearing from other schools too, although he is looking for his first scholarship offer.
“I’m just beginning to visit schools and look at different
places,” Davidson said. “I’m interested in Michigan State, Bowling
Green, Michigan, Akron, Toledo, Kent State, Miami of Ohio, a lot of
“I’ve been to Michigan State and Bowling Green. Overall I’d say I like Michigan State best.”
