Minster isn’t necessarily a hotbed when it comes to producing big-time college prospects, but this year there are two names on the Wildcats roster earning attention – junior QB Adam Niemeyer and sophomore TE/LB Ethan Wolf.

In the past, college recruiters going through Minster may have stopped in town for some chicken at the Wooden Shoe Inn. These days they’re making their way to the high school too.

Minster isn’t necessarily a hotbed when it comes to producing big-time college prospects, but this year there are two names on the Wildcats roster earning attention – junior QB Adam Niemeyer and sophomore TE/LB Ethan Wolf.

Last week Toledo and Bowling Green stopped by Minster to talk to Niemeyer. This week the crowd has been bigger. Iowa was in Minster on Tuesday, Boston College stopped by Wednesday and Indiana is scheduled to be in Friday.

Niemeyer (6-3, 190) was honorable mention All-Midwest Athletic Conference last year after throwing for 1,434 yards and 12 TDs. He also ran for 457 yards and seven TDs as the Wildcats finished 9-4 and made the Regional Final (losing to Marion Local).

Wolf, a 6-6, 221-pound TE, may become Minster’s biggest recruit in a long time. Last year he was honorable mention All-MAC after catching 20 passes for 390 yards.

Said one coach: “Everyone loves Wolf.”

There’s certainly a lot to like.

Wolf comes from a football pedigree.

His father James was an All-MAC performer at Minster and graduated in 1988. He played collegiately at Dayton.

Wolf’s uncles Darren and Brian were also All-MAC performers at Minster.

Brian was a member of Minster’s 1989 state championship team and played at Bowling Green after a three-year stint in the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system.

Darren currently lives in Lebanon and has two sons – Brody and Austin – who have been/are fine players in their own right for the Warriors. Brody graduated from Lebanon in 2011, while Austin is a junior.

Ethan Wolf doesn’t have any offers yet, but that will change – soon.
