Centerville coach Ron Ullery has confirmed with Voice of the Hawkeyes
that Brant Gressel has committed to Iowa. The 6-2, 279-pound defensive
tackle becomes Iowa’s sixth verbal pledge of the 2013 class.
Gressel visited campus in Iowa City on Saturday, and the Hawkeyes left a lasting impression.
“Basically, I felt great after the visit and wanted the weekend
to figure it out,” Gressel said. “I feel like I could fit right in there
and I can see myself in the Black and Gold for four more years.”
Gressel selected Iowa over offers from schools such as
Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Pitt
and West Virginia. Gressel was named First Team All-Conference and
Honorable Mention All-District as a junior after posting 4.5 sacks. He
is currently carrying a 3.68 GPA, and plans to major in engineering.
