Westerville South athlete Marcus Ball confirmed with 247Sports that Notre Dame is his leader following Saturday’s visit to South Bend.

“It
was great,” Ball started in. “With what I seen today, I loved the
tradition. I found out a lot more than I knew about it going into the
visit. I loved the coaches. I got to see a practice and I got see how
things are. I loved the coaches’ enthusiasm and passion in what they do.
The players were well spoken and it was just a great visit overall.”

The Irish have yet to offer the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Ball, and are
recruiting the high school quarterback/safety as an outside linebacker.
Ball added that Arizona State and Pittsburgh round out his early top
three. Both programs have extended a scholarship.

Ball should know more about a Notre Dame offer this coming week.

“Coach (Mike) Elston told me that it would be Thursday when they make that final decision,” Ball said.

This was Ball’s first-ever visit to South Bend.

“The campus is beautiful,” he said. “The church on campus is
beautiful. The environment, once you walk around campus you really feel
spiritually there. Most of all, the academic standpoint, they’re number
one in the nation in graduating their players, so that’s always good.”

Ball plans on taking all five official visits before making a
college decision. Illinois and West Virginia are among the other
programs to have offered early.

As a junior, Ball passed for over 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns,
while rushing for another 500 yards and two scores. Ball also
intercepted seven passes, one he ran back for six points.
