Alter four-star quarterback Malik Zaire committed to Notre Dame on Sunday, a day after visiting the Irish campus for junior day.
“I decided after leaving the tour and visit that it was something
not a lot of people get to experience and it was something special you
can’t pass up,” Zaire said.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 4 dual-threat quarterback and No. 117
prospect overall, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Zaire was the fourth recruit
this weekend to decide Notre Dame was an opportunity he couldn’t pass
up, joining four-star offensive tackles Hunter Bivin, Colin McGovern and Mike McGlinchey.
“I just talked with Coach (Brian) Kelly and Coach (Chuck) Martin
and they were excited for me and everything and I can’t wait to work
with them,” Zaire said.
Zaire chose Notre Dame over an offer list that included the likes of Alabama, Nebraska, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin.
“I think it was a combination of things of how I felt like,”
Zaire said. “I had a great relationship with Coach Kelly and Coach
Martin, and I like how they run practice and the meeting room, and
seeing the academic pieces and how it came together really showed me
what Notre Dame was all about.”
Zaire is the seventh commit for Notre Dame overall in the recruiting class of 2013.
