Toledo St. John’s junior quarterback Brogan Roback is certainly no stranger to East Lansing and
Michigan State. He estimates he has visited the Spartans six times.

“The
last time I was there was for a junior day when the Michigan State
basketball team played Bowling Green,” Roback said. “I was going to go
again (Feb. 25), but coach (Mark) Dantonio was at a Nike event and
wasn’t going to be there so I didn’t go.”

But Roback is thinking ahead about another trip to East Lansing.

“I’ll definitely get back up there,” Roback said. “I’ve been talking to coach (Mike) Tressel and coach (Dave) Warner.”

Roback has scholarship offers from Toledo, Bowling Green and Ohio University. He thinks Big Ten offers may be on the way.

“Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Cincinnati and Michigan State are
talking about it,” Roback said. “They want to see me throw in the
spring. And I’ll go to some camps in the summer.”

Though the Spartans have not offered, Roback said they have let him know a bit about what they are thinking.

“They said to be patient,” Roback said. “They are offering
national guys right now. Coach Warner said my only weakness is to gain
weight and get bigger. I’ve put on about 17 pounds. I’m up to 190 now.”

When asked to name his favorite schools, Roback said, “I have a
top five or six. In no particular order it’s Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan
State, Indiana, Cincinnati and Ohio State.”

The 6-foot-4 and 190-pound Roback had a big sophomore season. He
passed for 2,190 yards and 25 touchdowns with just four interceptions.
Roback also rushed for 558 yards and six touchdowns. He threw for 1,900
yards and 15 touchdowns this past season. Roback rushed for 530 yards
and scored eight times in leading St. John’s to a 7-3 record.
