In June of 2010 Michigan State offered a scholarship to a lineman from Ohio by the name of Jack Miller (Toledo St. John’s). However, Miller eventually committed to Michigan.
Jack’s younger brother Matt Miller was in East Lansing on Saturday for
the Spartans’ junior day and came away with a Michigan State scholarship
“Coach D – coach (Mark) Dantonio was not there,” Matt said. “He
was at a Nike conference. But I think they had the intention of offering
me based on my film.
“So they pulled me aside and gave me the scoop. Coach (Pat)
Narduzzi broke the news to me. I was thrilled. It’s a big offer. They’ve
been very successful the past few years and East Lansing is a special
The 6-foot-5 and 255-pound Matt Miller did not start as a
sophomore, but played quite a bit. He started at defensive end and
offensive right tackle during his junior season and is being recruited
for either position.
“Michigan State offered me as an offensive guard,” Matt said. “I
don’t have a preference, but coach Narduzzi and coach (Mark) Staten said
In addition to Michigan State, Miller also has offers from Illinois, Cincinnati and Toledo.
“I’ve really kept an open mind to this point,” Matt said. “I’m
still doing that. I couldn’t put any favorites out there right now.”
Miller visited Michigan last weekend. He was going to visit Illinois today, but did not because of car trouble.
“I’ll go back up to Michigan for a spring practice,” Matt said.
“I’ll try to get to Iowa and Ohio State as well. I’ll try to get to
