Youngstown Mooney junior Courtney Love is one of the top athletes in the state of Ohio.

The
6-foot-1 and 215-pound Love moved into the starting lineup for the
final two games of his sophomore season, playing quarterback at that
point. He moved to linebacker for the state playoffs that season and has
been a fixture on the Cardinal Mooney defense ever since.

Love had a great junior season. He helped lead Cardinal Mooney to
the Division III state championship and a final record of 11-3. Love
made 137 tackles including eight sacks. He forced four fumbles and
recovered one which he took the distance for a score.

Love is compiling an impressive list of scholarship offers
including Michigan State, Ohio State, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, West
Virginia and Bowling Green.

Love hasn’t had a chance to visit many schools, but one of the ones he has made it to is Michigan State.

“I was up there during the season for a game,” Love said. “It was really nice. I got a chance to see what they are all about.”

Love also had the chance to talk to the coaches a bit.

“Coach (Pat) Narduzzi is recruiting me,” Love said. “He seems
like a really nice guy. And coach (Mark) Dantonio is a great coach.”

However, Love says his current leader is Ohio State and the Spartans may not have a lot of time to catch up.

“I’m probably going to decide pretty soon,” Love said. “I’m not too sure – maybe in the next few weeks.”
